The cheapest FF outfits up here are tractor supply houses. The local NAPA store is $20 more than the tractor supply outfits for a one gallon can!

If you are just using it to spray FF a Wagner electric spray gun is $70 at Lowes/Home Depot no compressor needed. Been using the same one for 6 years.

Will 6 cans of these be enough to coat the undercarriage haha. Picked them up from Lowe's.

5 more cans and you have about a gallon. Last gallon I bought cost me $37 so yeah buy 5 more cans and you'll be able to do your truck about 3 times.

If the wagner gun somebody else mentioned works well I'd go with that. I use this and I'm real happy with it but I was in the market for a good compressor anyway:
    http://www.amazon.com/Makita-MAC2400-Big-Bore-Compressor/dp/B0001Q2VPK

It doesn't have any trouble at all keeping up so you could probably go with a smaller one. I was a dumbass when I first got it and didn't unplug the plastic cap where the air filter screws in and then I wondered why it took 30 minutes to charge to full. I sprayed my whole truck that way and it took forever. Then a couple weeks later I figured out the filter thing. It doesn't seem to have damaged the compressor any, which is a testament to its build quality I guess.

@Crom do you use FF on your truck? I figure you and I drive in the same type of terrain and similar climates, so I'd ask your opinion. My main concern is with so must dirt, dust and sand that we drive in, will the underside of my truck look like a '70s Buick all caked in black greasy mud? I know there isn't a huge threat of rust in SoCAL, but Toyota has the reputation to warrant some caution when it comes to this.

No I don't use it on the frame of truck. Not really necessary for us. I too was worried about attracting dust. I clean and use paint, and truck chassis looks real good. I do use FF around the house to lube things though. :D

Aw man! Just realized that was my 1,000th post on TW to you! Haha!:yay: And thanks for that. I didnt' see a huge need for it, but figured I'd ask anyway. I'm also kind of anal about washing my truck (the 3 or 4 times I do a year) so I wash the undercarriage and engine bay too.

Just bought some cans and realized the frame was filthy. Went through auto wash told lady all I was worried about was getting frame clean with bottom blast. Got back home still filthy. Not getting it done tonight. Winter is coming...

I'd at least use some aerosol cans into the boxed areas of the frame where its known to rust, but maybe I'm just over cautious.

I don't coat the entire underside for that reason on mine, I just keep my under carriage washed and cleaned up/painted.

    Good point.

As far as I know I may be the only one who has done it, but I found a way to clean and paint inside there. I had to do this because of welding burned the paint.

I got a writeup on how I did it in my build thread.

I also sealed the holes in the frame with medium dark duck tape. Sounds ghetto perhaps, but a year later and they are still intact, and doesn't look bad.

That said. I may relook at the idea of spraying FF in there.

    Thanks.

I bought kit #1 from Kellsport. It comes with a 360 degree spray head and tube that attaches to a rattle can of fluid film. It really works great for tight places and for putting it in holes in the frame to get inside.

I checked my truck this morning, most of the undercarriage has some kind of coat or paint.
Is it a protective coat? Would you still apply the fluid film?
