I went on the Toyota web site to build the configuration I'm wanting. At first I tried a DCLB 4x4 TRD Sport in White, it showed out of stock and I could only pick between Inferno, Black or MGM.
I then tried a SC version and I was able to choose white but I was not able to add the JBL package unless I chose Inferno or included the hard tonneau cover. What gives?

Its the way of the world after release. Dealers want to sell what they have or can get a hold of finished in the pipeline. The days of ordering what you wanted ended with the first delivered unsold truck. I especially wanted the JBL and was lucky I ordered early and could get one. Many of the more popular trims are being pre sold now for MSRP. A few months ago you could order and get a truck at or slightly over Invoice.

It doesn't seem like it will let me build anything close enough to what I want. The dealer I went to said he doesn't think he can get any Whites with black interior or JBL which seems odd but the build site seems to back it up, at least for now.

The problem with the way the website is set up is that it only lets you build configurations that are available in your area. Try changing the zip code and see what happens. I don´t know why it´s that way. I tried to put in 00000, but no luck. It seems like you could build what you want and see where it was located, but it don´t work like that, so you have to play with different zips.

I just tried in my area, I can configure TRD Sport, White, 4x4, DCSB, with black interior. Could not add the JBL.

Really lame system that Toyota Operates. They could build another plant or assign an existing one to accommodate custom builds.

Ok, I was able to try a couple different zips and I was able to configure closer to what I want. I assume I can go to the dealer and if I'm willing to wait they will build what I want?

I was at my local dealer today and we were discussing options. He told me the longest wait will be to build one and order from Toyota, second longest will be for him to check allocations and do a mid transport swap, meaning if another dealer is getting what I want they can change the destination and give them another one, or, probably the fastest, check within a certain mile radius and see what other dealers have in stock and do a dealer trade.

They did a quick search for me up to 1000 mile radius, nothing that matched exactly. The long bed DC Sport is probably the hardest option to find followed by the white/black combo with JBL it seems.

Toyota only allocates what they feel sells well in your region. For example I really wanted a red sport 2nd gen but it was damn near impossible to find one in SoCal because according to Toyota they don't sell well here.

Also maybe wait until the hype dies down a bit and then maybe you'll have a little more luck.
