I'm having rodent problems with nests on my AC air intake filter and would liek to install a hardware cloth screen over the air intake which is somewhere in the engine or wheel well housings. Where is that opening located?

Nope... Need to crawl around underneath to find access. They get up on the engine brace and head somewhere somehow into the right front wheel well area and into the filter above the AC blower.

You need to remove wipers, than window cowl. It's right underneath on pass side.

Howdy everyone who replied to my question. Hopped up this AM checked e-mails, found visuals, still shaking my head in the affirmative, went downstairs immediately to look into engine well. Yes, there is a cowl directly below the windshield wipers easily accessed by removing the wiper arms and two screw like snaps, a number of hold down clips and there it is. A cavernous intake with grass and leaves etcetera. Made a cover of sharp metal lath and fastened it around the hole. Thanks.

Just cleaned mice out of the blower on my new to me 2012 Tacoma. Gotta do the hardware cloth thing across the vent. Do I need to do it to the air cleaner inlet too.
Did both on my long gone 2001 Tacoma. Think Toyota would have fixed this issue by 2012!
