LED bed light strips - $50 shipped

I did some custom bed lights for my 2013 and thought they turned out pretty well. Wanting to see if anyone would be interested them. Pair (2) of 48" LED light strips - bluish white, encased in aluminum channels with frosted cover for mounting under the factory track system or on the bed walls. The lights will have pigtails for your own wiring. This only includes the lights and the rails and heavy duty 3M double sided tape for mounting. You will still have to supply your own addition wiring, fuse, relay & switch. Installation is the same as any auxiliary lights - kits can be purchased at auto stores or online very inexpensively.

I need 10 people to commit before it would be economical for me to do this. The "profit" here is marginal, the price really only covers materials and shipping so I need to order parts in bulk to make this even worth my time to assemble. So please understand that I am piecing these together manually one by one so allow for some time after the 10 people have committed. I will not ask for payment until I have met the quantity so don't worry.

Sorry to be a smartass here... but wouldnt it just be better to provide a link to where you bought them and we could get them ourselves? It doesnt seem like you're doing anything for us and you're not making much money.

 

Actually there are a few things involved in this. It's not like I buy them at a store and turn around and sell them. I solder the lights, and repaint the end caps on the rails, as well as cutting/taping the lights to fit the rails. It's not hard work but it's tedious and takes about 30 mins each. It's like asking bestbuy where they get their stuff from so you can skip the middle man, except I'm not taking about that amount of profit margin and as mentioned I am putting a little work in that the buyer who is interested might not want to do, but nonetheless I'm still trying to make a few bucks here and there. Just trying to offer up an idea and for those like yourself who have the means and want to do it yourself, I showed you the pictures and they aren't some top secret proprietary items, you can find everything online, but you will find out that with the work to put them together and $10 USPS shipping, depending on how many people participate, I'm looking at $6-9 per PAIR "profit". And trust me when I tell you my full time job pays me a lot more than $12-18/hr. Just trying to offer the community something different that's all.

 

HMM I didnt know that much work was involved, i thought you could buy them pretty much as you have pictured. With all that said, it's not a bad buy. I have the same LED strips in my bed but didnt use a track and it would def be better to have a rigid track for the lights. mine will likely be drooping after a couple years as the adhesive gives way.

Also, maybe you should consider a light across the front of the bed as well, and connecting the three together. Makes installation easier because you only have to run one wire to one side of the truck. And added brightness of course, and people wouldnt mind paying the extra money for the added ease of install.

I had the strips just taped under the rails before and it lasted me...a couple months before they fell down and it turned all yellow. that's why I went back to the drawing board and came up with these that will last better (not to mention before I didn't have a tonneau cover). Anyways, feeding wires from one side of the bed underneath over to the other side isn't that much work. I just routed it along the hitch mount.

 

Any guarantee on the strips? I have some now that the LED's slowly died, and all but like 3 leds are dead now. Only took em around 6-8 months to all die.

 

sorry I really can't provide any guarantee/warranty on the life of the LED. All I can do is test each strip before I send them out - which I always do, and make sure they are working when they get to you.
