Well, the grounding might be an issue, but with an antenna that long, it's a lot more forgiving when it comes to being tuned. That and when we went to tune Spruce Mike's antenna after he put it on, it ended up being ideal right as it came from the factory, so you could be tuned already.

I'm still seriously considering going to a 3' firestik firefly so I can maybe get a bit broader tuning band than I have now with my 2' FSII. Right now, I'm barely adequate on the extreme ends of the channel range.

Is the firefly an upgrade from firestik?

Depends on what you consider an upgrade. I want to go with a Firefly due to it being thinner and more flexible. If I'm going to be smacking even more low hanging branches, I want something with a little more give to it. Also, my 2' FSII on a medium duty spring leans over quite a bit at 50 mph or so. If I want to go 3' without having to buy a heavier spring, the Firefly is the only way I'm going to do it since it has less wind resistance being thinner. Still might not be enough to get out of having to have a heavier spring but I won't know until I try. I need to stay as flexible as possible since I don't want the sheet metal around the roof mount to work-harden and crack. That would suck. :p

I have the Firefly, don't know if it's an upgrade but it is thinner & works good. The claim you can run a medium spring with a 4' antenna but if you remember I ended up being too soft & we traded springs. Even with the heavy spring it flops around while driving down the road.

Yeah, but keep in mind, that spring you had was not all that great a spring (I think it was made out of brass or something soft like that). I destroyed it with just a couple of trips to Citrus and had to get a new one. The one I have now is a lot better (stainless) and I only want to run a 3' Firefly on it. I would imagine it's still going to lean at highway speeds, but I can accept that in favor of not breaking it or my roof smacking it on branches...as long as it's not laid over horizontal.

This is how much it deflects at highway speeds currently...

Doesn't mean you guys couldn't have been talking about Ryan #1, 3, or 4, so I could see how that could be confusing if #2 was the only one with a CB. ;)

Okay, a serious effort. Could call it 'Shirou' which is a Japanese name that means 'white'.
