Hey, that works! Would be barely noticable if you had that on one side and an awning on the other. Bet it wouldn't look bad.

You mentioned some trax. Any particular ones you've been looking at?

Honestly I'm thinking these guys, my buddy got them and we used them this past weekend these things are rugged and really rad!!! Freaking cheap too. http://www.amazon.com/Innovations-2...e=UTF8&qid=1447897202&sr=8-1&keywords=Maxtrax

I just read a trip report I found off expeditionportal where they made reference to those and said they were well built and worked.

Yeah I've heard and read nothing but good things, for the price there worth the risk.

How have I managed to not view your build before?! Very nice truck and your mods are all well executed. Looks like you live in a really fun place too, wish I was closer to some challenging places to wheel. Lots of trails up here but unless its muddy or really sandy there isn't too much pucker fuel.

I'm thinking of building a rack come winter break, any welding table or other apparatus you recommend?

Bed rack for now, maybe a roof rack if I find I'm really struggling to pack enough gear. But I'd like to get ready for a RTT, looking at maybe a James Barroud low profile tent or maybe the the smallest 2 person Tepui/CVT.

I'm leaning toward square tube as I have none of the proper tooling for bending or coping round tube.

I'm really looking to score one used. Maybe a James Barroud if I'm lucky. I don't really need to sleep more than 2 people and an annex isnt of much use to me either.

How does that rack mount to the roof?

Yeah, I'm curious about that as well. The 1st gen roof isn't particularly strong anywhere but the very outer edge.

they just have a rivet type thing that goes into the roof and when u put the bolt in it fans out. so you dont have to drop the headliner.

sounds interesting... I'd like to build some type of low profile rack that is the same height over my shell and cab. Just not sure how to secure it to the roof. I's want it strong enough to hold an RTT eventually
