What about shipped bare metal? I'm thinking it might be a better option to just have someone powder coat them locally.

I like this design and can see that you guys put a lot of time into the r&d of these. I would like to get a shipping quote to a commercial address zip 92683 for a set of bare metal, no kickout, no fill plate, and angled up for a 2011 double cab short bed thanks.

No problem. Once it is 100%, we're going to add that link to the original post of this thread for reference.

No, I have shipped quite a few things to Canada. I know what to do for customs, only part that SUUUUCKS is shipping cost. It is not cheap.

I'm honestly not trying to be the ahole guy who bitches about price, but why are your shipping costs so high? I have quotes from two other slider makers who are further away from me than you for about half of what you quoted me. I would buy yours, but shipping costs of nearly 50% of the product price is killing it for me.

I understand your frustration, trust me when I say it frustrates us too. Shipping is a necessary evil and I hate using the phrase it is what it is, but that is my only response for it. We lose a lot of sales over shipping cost. A business gets rates based on shipping volume. We are a small, new business with very low volume which means our rates are going to be higher than a large company with high volume. We talk about the Amazon effect and how it caused people to get the idea that everything that ships should be cheap. But what people don't realize is Amazon gets their great rates because they're shipping millions of items a year. Unfortunately for us, we aren't even a blip on the logistics radar. This is our first year in business, we have shipped just over 400 products so far. In the grand scheme of things, that is nothing.

With logistics, like Fedex for example, this item will most likely be taken out and put back in another truck at 5 or more hubs from Baltimore to Pittsburgh. It might not sounds like it, but this is a huge cost saver. If it were to go on one truck from me to you, the price would be 4 times what I sent you.

A set of DCSB sliders weighs almost 150lbs, and takes up 10.7 sq ft, which is fairly substantial in the shipping world. A truck only has so much floor space on it, and a set of sliders like these take up the same amount of floor space as a standard pallet that might have thousands of dollars on product on that one pallet. Rates are calculated off of girth, which is how much space the item will consume on a truck. These sliders come out to 141 inches, which is a fairly good amount, as well as heavy.

I hope this explanation helps you in your decision process and we truly are sorry to lose your business over it if you decide to go elsewhere.

What I can say, to help your decision more, is we are confident that with our product, there is no other slider on the market that is built as strong as ours for the same amount of money, prior to shipping.

EDIT: With you being in Pittsburgh, we could meet you half way which would eliminate shipping charges. Would just be a small amount of time and fuel for both of us.

Well, all I can is I am very impressed with your answer. Makes total sense and I appreciate the upward hill that has to be climbed by small businesses.
I go to Wisp to ski a few times a year and I go to Herndon, VA for horse shows some, so I will come your direction on one of those trips and buy from you. Thanks

Thank you for the positive response. I didn't want you for a second to think we were trying to rip you off in any way. We are on the phone OFTEN with Fedex and UPS doing our best to get better rates. In the beginning of opening a company, many people fail due to high shipping cost. We're in this for the long haul and want to make sure we do everything we can to give the best service and satisfaction that we can. I look forward to your future order and meeting you in person.

    -Joe
