Now that it's hard to find a TRD supercharger for my truck (the V6, 2012, manual), I'm looking for alternatives.

There's the URD one. Are there others? Also I read somewhere Magnuson took over manufacture of the TRD SC, but there's little info on that...

Is it worthwhile waiting to see what shows up on the market?

There is the URD as mentioned. Magnuson was targeting a release before the end of the year, but I think it may have slipped a little. It will likely be a fair amount cheaper than the URD. Also, URD is not plug and play with 2012+ trucks.

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
Correct, Magnuson made the Toyota TRD SC. They are reportedly going to release a kit under their own branding sometime soon.
URD makes the best one around, a bit of a different design then the Magnuson. It's more performance oriented. They are amazing! I have a TRD SC and love it. Great powerband. Strong at all speeds and smooth. So, I'd recommend waiting for the new Magnuson kit.

Until gadget gets the right connectors, I don't think the URD supercharger is a viable option for u or anyone with a 2009+........ Have u tried calling Magnuson?

LC Engineering is collecting a waiting list for the initial batch of the 4.0 units. If interested you might contact them.

URD and Magnuson/TRD are totally different. URD is centrifugal, where as TRD is roots. Simplified terms, high end power vs low end power.

Correct, ones a blower, ones a belt driven turbo..... But I'd say the Roots creates power thru entire rpm range

Correct, the roots does create power through the whole RPM range like a larger displacement motor. I was pointing out the biggest differences.

OK gotcha...... Centrifical def ramps up with rpm and is supposed to keep a cooler charge temp than roots.

Cool I'll go find that waiting list and add myself to it. Curious though: Is Magnuson basically manufacturing them for LC to sell as a kit?

It isn't on their site yet, because they don't have them in stock. Email them, they do have a waiting list for the initial batch of 4.0 SC. As of a couple months ago they hoped to be shipping before the end of the year. I think the schedule has slipped to beginning of next year.

Magnuson purchased the rights to build them from Toyota, minus the TRD logo. LCE is a Magnuson dealer, I'm sure other dealers will eventually get it too. LCE is on this site, you could try messaging them through TW.

Does anyone know if the dealer is going to still do the ecu flash or is the new company going to be able to do it?

I talked with a Magnuson rep at the Good Guys show in Scottsdale this past weekend. They will be updating their website very soon. They will be selling their kits which will include the fit kit, so it will be ordered based on engine/trans/yr combo. Kits are already in stock and will be the same as previous minus the TRD logo. Pricing will be released once website is updated. Toyota will still be able to do the ECU reflash.
