I love it when a salesman pushes a pen and paper and tell you to write down your price. When the salesman did this to me I wrote down "lowest price possible". Best thing to do is push away from the table and head for the door. The price seems to drop the closer you get to the door. As for the price it seems a tad high IMHO.

I already had my accord sold so I didn't worry about losing a key. Take two keys, even better go on the trade in test ride in your bmw and when he gets out take the key back.

Once they get your I.d. to test drive the truck they will run a credit check that's when they know what kind of buyer you are and will try to get your business.

If your financing try to find your own. My credit union is 1.49 right now and if I was a using it as my main bank I could get 1.24. This will also help because the dealership will treat it as a cash sale and that is worth something. If you go through the dealer ask for a finance coupon that will give you 25 basis points off the rate per coupon.

Last thing, the best deal is the one you are happy with. Anyone can write down a price on the internet. If you think it's a good deal it's a good deal. Finances are different for everyone.

Rule #1, NEVER EVER believe a car salesman when they try to tell you what they have invested in a vehicle. If they have MORE THAN BOOK VALUE invested, he's not a very smart business person. I like to point that out to them when they try to quote me a price based on what they have in a vehicle. Learn the values of what you're looking to buy BEFORE you get to the dealer. I don't even acknowledge their "offer". I make my own and stick very close with that. If they don't want to sell me a vehicle on MY TERMS, I'm outta there. Tacomas are easy to sell, but not every customer who walks on the lot is prepared to spend 110% of a vehicles actual worth.

The 2011 Tacoma I now own was priced almost $3500 higher than what I ended up paying. When the salesman first gave me HIS price, I laughed at him and started to walk away. He followed me and started lowering his price as we walked. They have to make a living too, and won't make a buck off of a customer who leaves without buying. Don't let them have total control over the sale. There are other dealers and there are other trucks.

My wife tells me I'm an absolute asshole when I deal with car dealers. I take that as somewhat of a compliment!

    You are correct.

Patience and 2/3 the $ (or less) can get you a nice 2nd gen with modest mileage that will give 20 years of service driving it like that, provided it's well maintained.

For 1/2 the price you can find a nice 1st gen and do the same.

That is exactly what I did, gave the guy the key to drive my truck and plopped my ass in the passenger seat, took the key back as soon as we got back.

My $0.02. I found that toyota of Puyallup was much cheaper that the one in Bellevue. I never work with the salesman. Only internet manager. None of that hose crap.

I like a 2008 in the area that has low miles, 27,000. I need to have a mechanic look at it. Could have a nice truck but not spend $30,000 for the limited driving I do.

A lot of dealers are going to this no negotiation pricing. Odd.

When I was shopping for a truck last year, I always told them they better not "lose" my keys after handing them over for them to look at my trade. It was a way to joke and get a laugh, but it also told them I meant it or I'm leaving.

New member here putting in his 2 cents..
Just recently purchased "Toyota certified" used black 2015 DCSB TRD Sport with just over 20,000 miles on the clock for $26,200..dealership was asking for $27,900. I was a little put off by the mileage, but the truck was serviced every 3000 miles(service records included) and had a couple of "character" scatches on the tailgate, which helped haggle the price down, but no door dings and interior was spotless and smelled like new. Having the certfied warranty helped me decide as well. I traded in my 2013 Mazdaspeed 3 and had over $2000 in equity...still miss the "zoom-zoom", but loving the slow taco roll since now I don't have every teenager/sport car owner trying to race at every freaking stoplight!:turtleride:
There will be a influx of clean used trucks since the 16's are out and a lot of people have to have the latest and greatest...patience young grasshopper...
