ok guys, thanks for clarifying. I was wrong in my impression that the locker on the 09-15 models was just an extension of the electronic wizardry for the LSD. Good to know it is a real mechanical locker. Now to figure out how my flux capacitor is wired

The hydraulic brake booster is a real asset. I know you know this next part, but for others I'll mention it for good measure.... In addition to the benefits you've listed above, it also works really well to automatically flush brake fluid out, the electric motor does all the hard work for us. Great for folks who like to DIY.

    I think he's referring to the 09+ Sport "LSD's"

Oh yeah hands down if all you had to choose from was mechanical or brake actuated via a separate ABS unit (which is the case in any model that is not an 09+ TRD OR 4x4) id rather have mechanical.

But having the locker and the brake actuated LSD on my electric boosted brake system, its far superior.

Yup. With ATRAC working on the front axles, and mechanically locked in the rear, the Tacoma is very well equipped for traction in rough terrain.

    Truth.
X2. Coming from a 2010 Sport, to a 2008 Sport, and now a 2012 OR I can definitely say the braking in the OR seems to be much firmer. Not sure if that's solely attributed to the boosted master cylinder.

That's the only difference. You go from a vacuum assisted setup with separate abs unit to an electric boosed 4 channel abs master cylinder all in one.

2x the line pressure and less line and equipment to go through.

Wow...thanks for all the info guys. Although the topic kind of changed several times throughout the post, I was thoroughly informed. I think for my purposes....I will leave the locker alone. Being in the deep south, there isn't much need for the locker other than fun.
