    Hello Everyone,

I am interested in a hard folding tonneau cover for my truck. I've read a lot of reviews on here and there seems to be some mixed opinions. I'm interested in something fairly low cost, easy to remove, and will keep my bed as water tight as possible. That being said, what would you all think is my best option?

    Thanks,

There's always going to be mixed opinions on this. Also, it depends on what 'fairly low cost' means. With a good folding hard tonneau, you could be looking around the $1k range.

There's a lot of debate about the water-tightness of any of them. Some have great experiences, and some poor experiences.

I can tell you that I am going through the same decision process, but I am now down to a soft tonneau or a soft shell (canopy). For me, a hard shell just wasn't worth the money for what I'm looking to use it for.

    Others will chime in! Subscribed!

I've had a pretty good experience with the Extang Solid Fold. New version 2.0 out now that looks to fix a lot of the initial problems with the old version. Checkout my build thread for some photos. Not 100% watertight, but keeps most things dry and my surfboards out of the sun :D

I really like the roll-up type. Even has channels and a drain tube for water. Strong enough to stand on. However, they are hard to find used and not cheap new.

What about security? I read that the tonneaus with the pull chord open system can be opened with a hanger despite the tailgate being up and locked. Is this true?

The G4 Elite doesn't use pull cords, it's metal turn locking shaft.

I got mine in the mail last week, installing on Wed/Thur. It also allows the bed rail lockdowns to be used and comes with the tailgate seal free.

EDit: NM this one is pricey, almost $800 shipped.
