I was going to remove all the mud flaps on my Tacoma. I looked under the flaps where it is touching the fenders, and the paint is rubbed off really bad :(. What's the best way to take care of this? Are you guys touching up the paint, is the something that is made to be stuck over the rubbed off paint? Any help is appreciated. I know I'm not the first one to remove the flaps. Thanks!

Buy touch up paint from the dealer. It like $13 and comes in a brush/pen type. Great for those rock chips if you don't want your truck to rust. Used it twice already.

Yea it looks like it's ate the paint up pretty good under there! I may have to leave hem on unless I can figure out how to touch up my paint.

Does the touch up paint match pretty good (considering the fading that's took place Over the past 4 years)? How about touch up paints from autozone? Only because I'm sure it will be cheaper there and I live 5 mins from an autozone.

I don't know about the fading. I only had my truck for a year. But then again mud flaps are underneath the truck so it's probably going to be hard to notice anyway. Ask for buying things from third party I would recommended it. You get what you pay for. In my experience OEM is always better than third party. Quality and durability.

I just remembered I also bought touch up paint for my wifes car. Her car is from 2009 and then touch up paint works out perfectly.

Sounds good! How much is a tube of OEM super white paint from Toyota?

I took mine off on the first day thanks to a small pot hole and this wonderful forum. Took the truck lakeside for the sunset on the first day and when the front wheel went in the small divot the noise I heard made my skin crawl. Found out some people trim them way down while others get them gone so off they went and my first mod was in the books.
Trimming them way back and reinstall them with silicone might be your best bet if the touch up paint doesn't go well.
They don't come on the 16's and were WAY to big and stiff plastic is just wrong for a mud flap in the first place.

Yea I actually have husky liners brand on mine. I'm either going to trim them up some, or just remove them all together. I'd prefer to remove them.

Mine was $13 plus tax. Give them your paint color. If you don't know what it is just take a picture of the sticker inside the driver door. Show it to the parts and service and they'll be able to match it and give you the correct paint. If they don't have it in stock , it usually takes about 5 days for them to get it.

Oh for sure, much cleaner without them!

Hi Todd, When I bought my 2015 Sport I removed my mud flaps and cut them down. Before I put them on I put on this Racers tape which is clear film to protect the paint In case the mudflaps rub along anything. My 2010 had paint rubbed off because of the mudflaps rubbing along the high piles of snow.

Eventually when my truck gets more abuse on it, I plan on doing a rubberized type of coating along the bottom section. I'll keep mudflaps of some sort for the protection. Any thoughts on going with a rubberized coating or bed type liner instead of touch up paint?

True, but you also should consider that people driving behind you wouldn't appreciate rocks being flung up into their windshields w/out mud flaps on your truck. Just saying...
