So I'm in the market for a front/rear Plate Bumper/sliders/winch setup, but to keep SWMBO relatively happy, I can't buy that AND the lift I want at the same time. I want the ICON Stage 2 lift kit w/ TC UCAs.

I've seen other people mention with other lifts that you shouldn't run them without the added weight, but nothing specific to Icon.

Since I need the lift for the bumper setup anyway, will there any issues installing it without the added weight on an otherwise stock 2015 DBSB 4x4 OR? Need to rebuild the cash reserves before I can go for the bumpers etc..

    Thanks!

Youll have a rough ride in the front without all the added weight.

Do what I did, buy the shocks. Dont install them until you get the bumper.

I bought my icons in June and I just got the bumper two weeks ago.

Its all getting installed at the same time.

I figured.. kinda disappointing.. I'm impatient. Don't know if I can go that long with a lift kit sitting in my garage untouched. Might just be dumb enough to just go ahead and buy the bumper/winch now and deal with the aftermath.

Im running a plate bumper on the stock suspension. No winch though. Havent noticed any major sag or other downsides yet. Its been on the about 9 months now.

Thanks, that's the setup I'm going for, and am considering doing the winch later. Maybe I'll go that route and get the bumper put on and get the lift later when a deal comes around.

You didn't mention in your original post. Are you ordering heavier rated springs on those coilovers? If not the ride will be fine. If you spec the heavier springs you may want to wait and install them when you do your armor

With the Icon Stage 2? I didn't check to see if they were 700# or not, but assumed the coils would be strong enough for the added weight. If not then I'm going to have to rethink my suspension strategy.

I have the Stage 2 and would absolutely recommend this kit to you. But if you plan on adding all of that protection you might want to go with the heavier spring - as opposed to adding preload to the original springs. Just for ride quality
It's not a big deal to upgrade the springs when you buy. But you're going to want to wait and install those when you have the armor to weigh it down some.

Thanks for the info, it definitely helps. No point in changing the springs after the fact when I can get them put on from the start.

I don't have the icon stage 2 but have similar. I ran the ext. Length icons for a year or so before upgrading. The ride was awesome compared to stock.

Beck even when I added the plate bumper and winch the ride was awesome. I didn't adjust preload for height though.

I now run the cdc rr icons up front with 700lb springs and love it.

If I were you, grab the stage two now and install it. Once you get everything else you can decide to swap springs or not.

I'm also running Icon's with the standard 650 lb springs it comes with. I ran them with the stock bumper, and now I have a steel plate bumper. The ride was good without and with the steel bumper. I don't have a winch currently but if I ever do install a winch, I would change to 700 lb springs.

With the added weight up front and the 700 lb springs, what number setting do you have your Icon cdc set to for daily driving?

Really it depends. For general driving i leave it set to 4. For windy roads ill crank it up to 9 or 10. For off roading i usually go 1 or 2. Just depends

Thanks for the input! I'm thinking of going down this route. How much additional weight do you have added approx?
