I have been cutting the hell out of the plastic fender liner in order to try and eliminate my rubbing issues. Is it safe to remove all of it? What all is it protecting? I think the passenger side protects an intake...maybe, but I'm only rubbing on the driver side. Thanks for the insight!

    Lots baby!
Inner fender wells (liners) protect the fenders.

Without them, you can ding the fender from a rock or gravel thrown by the tires.

I have a 34 Ford street rod. There are no inner fender wells. You can put a "star" fracture in the paint by a thrown rock inside the fender. To minimize these I undercoated the fenders with bed liner.
