Old post. But wanted to say I love my Kershaw desert tan. The texture has nice grip compare to my green one.

Not taking any more shit from shrubbery!!

Got tired of being "bitten" by blackberry shrubs and greenbrier vines, so I thought a little payback was in order; got the 145 Woodman's Pal Long Reach Fixed Blade Knife and have been whacking away- very therapeutic! Great for clearing trails, making blinds, or emergency shelter.

Maybe it's been mentioned in the 156 pages of this thread. But does anyone have any good ways of sharpening their knives?
I still can't stop looking at your knives. Amazing collection of high end stuff. Obviously you like them all. But do you have a few favorites? Maybe an EDC fav?

Thanks bro! I actually aquired a few more since I took those pics. Hands down, my most carried and used knife would be the zt0562cf. The zero tolerance knife in the center of the ZT group. Rick hinderer design, based off his XM line, titanium framelock with carbon fiber handles and it's a ball bearing flipper. Flips better than a real Hinderer XM18. It's one I use and enjoy quite often. There is also the regular ZT 0562 without the carbon fiber that's a bit cheaper, but just as great. The only problem is there is no lanyard hole so I can't put my beads on it nicely. Check out my Instagram for more knife and bead pics :D @bullaculla
For sharpening I just use a smiths 3 in 1 diamond sharpener. Lansky is good and also spyderco sharp maker or something? And lots of people are into the whole wicked edge thing right now.

Ship your knives to me like plenty others here have! I do em for 5-7 bucks a piece and I can take them up to a 30k grit.

Or if you've got 700 bucks lying around go get an edge pro yourself haha
I've used many different sharpening systems and have been using regular stones since I was a little kid and this thing blows them all out of the water . keeps a perfect machined angle every time.

    Benchmade Nakamura with M390 steel
uploadfromtaptalk1448985041992.jpg fresh out of the box

    uploadfromtaptalk1448985095034.jpg
Look at this shit! $250 Knife and it looks like they used 40 grit sandpaper for their "super sharp factory edge"
It came rough as hell like that at about the standard 21 degrees (same angle my $30 kershaw works best at) which frustrated me even more.
This m390 is supposed to be the latest and greatest super steel- the whole point of using it would be to have the ability to take it down to a thinner edge to cut easier while the steel holds better than a "lesser steel" at a steeper angle.
I had to sharpen it on the spot because I'm a picky bastard. I also dropped it down to 16 degrees to see if this fancy steel has any merit.

    uploadfromtaptalk1448985957376.jpg
After a couple weeks with this thing, I'm sold on the steel. I've used it heavily and where my kershaw with the softer steel needed touching up every week or so to keep it shaving sharp, this one holds a kickass edge no matter what you throw at it.
    Almost.
The steel is super hard and as such, isn't as tough as softer ones. I used it on my magnesium flint block to start a campfire, used the blade to cut shavings off and chipped the edge. My kershaw dulled quickly when I did the same, but the edge just rolled rather than chipping.

I would easily snap this blade using it to pry like I can do with my kershaw. But that's a small sacrifice I took.

Not crazy about the knife either- it's a little small in my hand and the weird axis lock thing makes it super awkward to close with one hand. Every other frame lock type I've had is easy to close without getting your fingers in the way of the blade.

That's my thought as well, if it's spring assisted it won't, but the non assisted axis locks I flick open and closed just by pulling the lock and flicking my wrist

On another note. Got a new stone over thanksgiving from a cousin, he was gonna toss it because it needed to be lapped

So I'm the proud new owner of a coticule hone. I also lapped my Norton 4k/8k combination stone at the same time. Then went to town on my sebenza and a friends benchmade

Coticule on the left. It's a natural non porous stone

Yep! Big fan of axis lock on BMs. Not a fan of axis autos or SA.
