The only snow around here is on my chin. I tend to shave less often when I'm not working. :anonymous:

A little snow to my north but nothing here. Hope it stays away a few more weeks.
Evening good people of the porch.

And most of the talking heads and some of the presidential candidates, from both sides of the aisle, want to send in massive ground troops with bombing. These FU**TARDS have never served in the military and do not have a clue about the life of a soldier. But is easy for them since their life is not in harms way.

This impending war is political in its nature and the flames are fanned by the media. I would like to see all of them, politicians and the media, do 9 weeks of basic training followed up by 8 weeks of AIT then sent in on the first deployment. When they make it back to the USA you can bet they would be better leaders.

Hate to say it, but wonder what would happen if ISIS would somehow manage to capture an American pilot or soldier and burn him/her in a cage, or behead them.
I know it shouldn't be our problem, but then again the Nazis shouldn't have been either.
What I'm seeing, and a lot of others, is the amount of fighting age men that are leaving the Middle East instead of joining up with forces in their homeland to fight against ISIS, that irks me more than anything.
Most of us were brought up to fear the USSR and "MAD" through nukes, I don't think too many of us could have predicted what's going on now.
Statistic: 1 in every 5 people in the world is a Muslim, by 2030 it will be 1 in 3.
I think it's time to buy a Koran, just in case!
AH HECH, forget it; I probably won't be around by then!!!! :deadhorse:Come on Boats, wake up!

    Carl:
For the most part the young men are fleeing torture, death, or conscription into the army. They do not have weapons to put up a fight and all they have seen in the last 4 to 5 years is young men dying. Cultures usually send the young men to blaze the trail to escape persecution when fleeing for their lives. Rarely does a culture sent the old and women to do the job. These groups follow.

You are correct though this is not an easy problem, both the war and the immigration, and it will not go away.

I'm having a bit of fun (not really) trying to run a new circuit up to the eaves so I can power some gutter heaters. We've lost our gutter several times to heavy ice buildup/weight; I'm hoping the gutter heaters will put an end to the buildup. So I've been reaching into dark places, fishing wires, adding a circuit breaker, etc. I think I had cobwebs on the entire upper half of my body!

Better than paying an electrician. When I ran power to my second floor to power two ceiling fans I had my wife help me fish the walls. I told he we save close to $400 by doing the install ourselves.

SURE! Take the easy way out!

Tom: Sure you saw this also. The Russian pilots were being shot at as they were under parachutes, looks like one was killed by ground fire, why not just go capture them and hold them. Not good!

That is one of the problems with the rhetoric being spouted off by the talking heads. They think these Islamic Fundamentalist are a bunch of buffoons. They really are not. They have high quality weapons and know how to use them. They also do not take prisoners to slow them down. That's why I want the Politicians and TV entertainers to fight in the first wave. These guys and gals have no clue to what the world is up against. Would love to see a few of the Fox Entertainment blond size 2 gals be captured and then married 30 or 40 time a day. They might get a better idea after that.

Honestly I do not wish that on anyone but sometimes the BS is just too thick and depressing. This is a rather long read but it really digs deep into what is going on.

I made the mistake of telling my wife one time how much money I saved by doing it myself. She went out and spend it, saying I save quite a bit cause it was all on sale!

Morning Rob, we're doing good, but friends and neighbors not so good. Been a bit busy with driving for the dealer. How are you and the family doing? Getting ready for Turkey day? I'm heading upstate for the weekend and that means no TV or landline phone :woot:. A quiet weekend. Still waiting for the call from Toyota for my frame replacement:facepalm:. Take care and have a good day.

Sorry to hear about the friends and neighbors. :(

Busy is good, keeps you active and occupied. I work Wed night so my shift ends Thu morning at 07:00 AM. Kristi has to work Thu 12-9PM; working retail, the holidays are always so busy for her. With the oldest son, his wife, and grandkids in Phoenix now, the holidays are kind of low key for us. We'll have a Thanksgiving style meal with our youngest son, Mitch and his fiancée, Meghen, on Sunday. Meghen's parents have invited me over for Thanksgiving dinner Thu afternoon, I'll probably go. Her Dad is retired Army, so we get along very well. ;)
Nice to get off-grid like you do for the holidays :jellydance: ... something I'm keeping in mind for our future when Kristi retires from the retail rat race that the holidays seem to have become. :(

We did spend a long Halloween weekend in Phoenix with the kids and grandkids, it was wonderful. :) I'm giving some serious thought to spending Winters in AZ and Summers in AK sometime down the line; become the proverbial snowbirds.

Frame replacement huh, NE Winters sure are tough on the metal ... I had mine inspected a little over a month ago, no problems noted. They don't use salt or chemicals up here, and I've taken to using fluid film on the potential problem areas. Hope to keep my truck as long as possible. I'm not a fan of the 2016 look, nor do I want the Entune radio/computer screen thing they starting putting in around 2012 or so (not sure). Kristi's 2014 Highlander has Entune, and I don't really care for it. I'm not anti-technology, but in my opinion some things are just better kept simple. :notsure: Or maybe I just don't have enough patience any more.

I wish you and yours the happiest of holidays my friend. Stay safe on the drive up and back. :)
