Are you supposed to mess with the spacing of the plug and the top of the metal pin? Or is it more like take it out of the box and install?

I recommend checking the gap between each plug to ensure they're within the spec range. Recommended gap is between 0.39-0.45 if I'm not mistaken. I purchased my plugs from the dealer and they were within that range, so it's up to you.

It's best to check the spark plug gap and adjust it to the minimum gap. That way as they wear down the gap will get wider, but it'll still be within limits. I thought plugs were good for 100,000? Are you getting the information out of your owner's manual or the stealership must do to make more money list? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EXaoNnJEww

Standard Toyota plugs only last 30k before they need changing. The long life iridium plugs can last 60k, but I wouldn't recommend waiting till 100k before changing any type of spark plug.

The long life iridiums are for the 4 cylinder. V6 has standard plugs. I know of 2 Tacoma V6 owners that are over 75k miles on original plugs.

Admittedly I haven't personally checked, but I have read here on TW that the manual says 100k for the 2.7. Ill probably do mine at 50k if that is the case anyway, but that is what I heard.

I'm not sure about the 2.7, but I know the 4.0 recommends the change every 30k. I still wouldn't trust any plug to last a healthy life till 100k.

I agree with this. My 4cyl frontier I had was every 100k recommended but when I checked them at 80k they were totally worn out. Looked super burned and the gap was huge on them

Iridium is a very hard metal and doesn't wear like other standard plug electrodes.

Wait a minute. Toyota promotes that BG engine flush company? I knew they offered a lifetime warranty on your engine if you use their product, with payout, but I didn't know Toyota gave it the o.k?
