Arizona page has a fishing, archery, and hunting thread but no trapping. I been trapping for 3 years now and I enjoy the hell out of it. Walking up to a trap with the door down not know what's in there it's like Christmas seeing what you got.

Just a bunch of old crap
Great idea for a thread. I'm more into the lines of snares and deadfall traps. Interested to see what comes out of this.

I pretend to trap, don't catch much. Just waste some gas and walk a little.

A month ago, I was sitting at the kitchen table, half awake, when I looked out and saw our 2 chickens being chased around inside their chain link coop. I ran out, went inside the coop, and saw what I thought to be a mink or weasel, running them around in circles. Little fucker didn't give a shit that I was in there at all, just kept chasing them. I said fuck it and reached down on one of his passes and pitched his little ass out the door, hard. He just got up and looked at me like "wtf was that for?". He then went under the deck.

I grabbed my trusty HavaHeart trap, set the tray with peanut butter, and left for work. 3 hours later, my girlfriend sends me this picture:

    20151015_151054.jpg

It's a Goddamn domestic ferret!!! He musta got out from his previous digs or was kicked out or something, but anyway, after a few days of looking for "lost ferret" signs, we decided to keep him. He's all fixed, fluids topped, etc, so he definitely came from a pet store or ferret farm or whatever... he's definitely an indoor ferret. $400 later in ferret vet checkups and ferret accouterments, he has been added to the menagerie. I named him Thoreau, because I pitched him hard out that door. Coulda went with Chuck, but Thoreau sounded a bit more dignified for the poor little bastard :)

I'm finally able to get a one of briarpatch cage traps. 42x18x9. Catch some fur and be able to get the complete set for 400.00. The best part is the company is just south of anthem here in the great state of Arizona cluster.jpg

Foothold, I've been doing walk throughs at the base of ledges, I'm not really just targeting bobcats though, coyotes are with almost the same with the bounty Utah has on them and the crappy markets for everything else. Don't have much experience with dirt holes...

I use cages and blackout14 is correct ypu need to camouflage the cages very well and have them in the right place. I have video of bobcats walking up to the cage then walk in one step then back out. They are nervous and high strung animals

Lure and bait are key to success in trapping a cat. Live bait works the best

I'm trying all the stuff, I actually missed one the other day, I had caught a rabbit and it straight up ate it out of the trap and kept walking

I like to talk too, like the chances to learn something maybe. I spend a little bit of time in woods every year. There's never an off seasons for me between deer/elk, bear/lion and trapping and antlers.

Ground squirrels work good I had one in my cage trap with the door down and the bobcat was on top of the cage trying to get it but couldn't. The bobcat saw me and ran off. I shot the squirrel and left it in the cage all the way in the back that night that cat was in the trap.
