Wish I saw this before buying the model that allows the use of the truck key to open it......I suppose The advantage to a manual lock is I can use the truck key to open the bed in the event of a dead battery LOL

Don't need it with Key lock. Redundant now.., I like that it programs to the truck key.

Thanks JTyfz450! I used your post and a video I found to guide me on my install (today). I did a few things different - i.e. Ran the wires to the drivers B pillar through a grommet under the drivers seat, but it all ended up the same: a power locking tailgate. If anyone is interested in another install method see post #15

I have an 09, do you know if the wire colors are the same?

I believe so but am far from an expert. Perhaps someone with an '09 and has done this will chime in.

From the P&L install instructions from their web site:
"For 2007 and up all models locate the Blue with a black stripe and the blue with light red stripe wire."

Thanks OP and everyone else on this thread for contributing.

    I installed my PL8540 today.
I ended up running up the passenger side frame and into the sill wiring, zip ties to the existing wire loom every few inches.. It's still blue wires with pink and black stripes on the 2015 in case anyone is wondering. (DCSB OR)

I ran the wires out the tailgate through the camera loom, thanks to whoever suggested that. It looks factory.

I also moved the drivers side linkage guide to keep it from rattling. That is synthetic grease I swabbed on making it look so messy.

Real happy with the way it came out.

I would use something else than a dish (sink) sponge to dampen vibrarions. You want something closed cell, that does not soak up water.

I highly suggest saving your money. Your pop and lock will brake within a year. Mine did.
