I just want to get off the pavement one more time this year. Harlan/Black Mountain is on my list. Definitely want to head down sometime without my son for a more challenging ride and camp. I've heard its a great park.

I'm 100% HAVE to be at work @ 5AM on that Sunday, ready to go for a 14 hour work day. I can do Saturday, but will need to be on my way back home by 4PM at the absolute latest.

Did I mention my job sucks?

That sucks. Are you thinking about a rescheduled date or just planning on rolling out early? Not sure how late we'll stay anyway, I'll be on no sleep.

I gotta talk it over with Sandy, and I have to talk with my boss when he gets back from his vacation (next Tuesday) I just found out we're "baby sitting" 2 MORE dogs (for our grand daughter) so it's a one day deal no matter what. (We have 3 dogs of our own and 5 parrots that have to be fed every day) That would mean 9 total hours on the road, whatever time we spent on the trails, surrounded by 2 ridiculously long days at work.

I'd suggest keeping the plans with everyone else, with the thought I may or may NOT be involved. I'm really wanting to go.

Could still do Blue Holler. I want to check out both parks in the near future and it is much closer. Harlan may be too long of a haul for a day trip.

I'm down for both. It's looking like most will be in for a day trip so Blue Holler is probably the best route. Much closer for everyone.

    Blue Holler December 12th-13th?

BTW, I'm officially starting to look for a different job. This place owns me.

I think that's probably best. I'll have a ton of vacation time after the first of the year. Harlan is just such a long drive for a short day in the woods. Best trails I've ever been on, but a long drive.....

tiogafallsnov27 001.jpg tiogafallsnov27 002.jpg tiogafallsnov27 003.jpg tiogafallsnov27 004.jpg We did some on roading friday.....Drove to Ft Knox, parked and then hiked in to Tioga Falls on the Northwest corner of the base. Years ago, you could drive within a 1/2-mile of the falls and walk up the creek bed. It was a popular hangout for teen agers in the area. It's been closed off to civilians for the past 4+ years, but recently re-opened. The round trip hike is 3.8 miles of some pretty nice trails, albeit a steep climb in places. We thought it was a tough hike until we got to the falls and found a family there with their young kids barefoot and playing in the rather cold water. Must not be too tough, huh....Seemed like it to a couple of almost 60-somethings!

My wife and I both used to visit the falls when we were teens. So far as we know, this was the first time we were both there at the same time.

I'll go if at least one other is wanting to go. Rain or shine. CKYO is Goin to Harlan same day. Brent if this one falls through we could always meet those guys down there. Should be a TJ, JK, and a Cherokee at least from that group. 4hrs drive from my house though, not sure about yours.

Ya I saw that on Facebook. I'm not against it but I'd would like to stay local if possible. Its 4.5 hrs plus I lose an hour going there so basically 5.5 hrs. Only 3.5 hrs coming back though.

The way this week is shaping up with lab finals, final projects and lecture finals next week I'll be ready to get out of town.
