    X2 to assorted bearings. It's actually insane the amount of drag a little idler bearing can put on your engine.

    It'd take you a half hour if that to take the belt off (make sure you draw the route of the belt out before hand) and wiggle all the pulleys to make sure the bearings are good.

    Front wheel bearings and alignment are also killer.

    I get around 18-19 in my 2.7 with a 3 inch lift and heavy 33's.

    used to have - 99 2.4L I4 5 lug & 04 prerunner v6
    yes sorry, its the 03-04 with the electronic throttle control

    you should have an IAC valve then, its located at the bottom of the throttle body and the throttle body must be removed to access it for cleaning

    its a real super PITA to disconnect and reconnect all the hoses and connectors with little to no room to get your hands in there and triple check you didn't forget to hook something up before starting the truck which is easy to do. if you get the three vacuum lines on top mixed up it will give you a EGR fault code so take pictures of how everything goes.

    this is the 3.4 but the process is the same

    If you have 108k on your plugs,,then your about 58K behind there. No matter what anyone says,,or whatever book tells you different,,those need to be swapped out at around 50k or a bit less. I don't care how much you spent on whatever golden plugs you have been using,,after that many heat cycles, the heat range rating changes slightly along with the natural timing of the plug. This has a huge impact on your mileage. More than one would suspect.

    NGK or Denso. I use NGK in everything and always will.

    Is this going to fix your problem completely??. Probably not because at least 1 factor is out of your control somewhat,,and that is winter blend fuel which can kill about 2-3 mpg. I know this for a fact. Different parts of the country get different winter mixed fuel depending on location, transportation distance of fuel, how long it has been tank stored before it goes to the public pumps, the list goes on. Everyone gets a taste of it no matter where you live. If you can find non-ethanol fuel in your area, work that into your winter budget. You will be 2 steps ahead of the game and maybe a little closer to a fix.

    Sometimes it takes a bit of money to regain the mileage you desire.

    And BTW, I feel your pain. When I rolled my 99 off the dealer lot, I was getting 22 mpg and much better with factory 4.10 gears and a 225/15 tire. One trip to California was 26-27 mpg when it was new(430 miles on 16 gallons) and empty except for driver and a cold drink. Now with 225K mileage and a 1" taller tire, it's significantly less. About 18-19 now.

    No no no, I did my plugs at 108K. And I use 93 octane. And I know the mileage can go down from original off the lot, but 13MPG? That's drastic

    Why do you use 93 octane? I've always used what the manual calls for, 89 octane. Runs great, get 20 mpg, and never pings.

    To each his own on the fuel. On really smoking hot summer days and summer days in general, in goes the alky free Super. The cold winter here, it gets 89. My truck warms up a bit faster with 89 due to the quicker snap of the burn and this SR5. If I load up a big heavy load in the back, winter or summer, in goes the Super because you are going to have rapid, non-typical temp swings pulling hills around here, and it's easier on the internal hardware. You DO NOT want the motor audibly pinging, loaded, pulling hills, in the really cold temps. You will get away with it for a little while,,the "little while" is to be determined by the Engine Carnage Gods. Do whatever you feel is needed.

    Back to the meat,,

    Start your tune up list, because it just seems it's calling it out. All good stuff laid out before you to check. No mention of a CEL, has it ever thrown a code that you know of?.

    The only code my truck has ever had is EGR insufficient flow. I've replaced the entire EGR valve and solenoid
