I was behind a 2nd gen sport this morning and he had metal bars blocking his whole rear window. The assembly was attached to his bed rails. Is it purely an anti theft device? Who makes it? It looked cool:)

not an anti theft device but something to protect rear window from items in the bed (see it a lot out here with the cattle ranches).

it would definitely serve as one though. you'd have to be skinny enough to pick corn through a picket fence to get past it!

    Bone Stock.Why mess with perfection?Except...
I hauled a top-heavy compressor about a quarter of a mile in my first Tacoma. While going down a slight grade I lightly pressed the brake pedal and the compressor tipped over and broke out the rear window of the double cab. I fully admit it was my dumbass move, but it sounds like this accessory would have saved me several hundred dollars. The ones I've seen aren't very attractive, but if somebody's looking for a mod that would be real world beneficial, this could be it.

Sounds like what's commonly called a Headache Rack. Intention is to keep $h1T in the back of your truck from slamming into your window and breaking it during sudden stops, etc.

OME 885, dakar leaf pack. 265/75r16 duratracs "c". Back up camera. Scan gauge. Husky floor liners. Cal trend canvas seat covers. Topper and tacoma bed mat. Tailgate skin and cap. Differential breather mod. Intermittent wiper switch. Redline hood struts.
Never wanted one. Wish I had one when I broke rear window out of old Chevy with a kayak.

Back in my hay hauling days, a headache rack was an extension over the top of the cab to stack more bales on.

This was on a truck a bit bigger than a Taco... ;)
