entune and hvac ?

I'm a first time Tacoma owner. Went from an F150 4X4 to a 2016 double cab with the off road package. I love the truck but have a couple questions related to Entune and the hvac. Initially, I had no trouble with iPhone 6 connecting automatically. For the past couple of days, it will connect as both phone and audio player but when I use the voice command to request an artist it keeps telling me the Bluetooth device is busy or not available. If I just manually select the song I want it will play. Today, in the middle of a phone call it suddenly switched over to hands free. Bluetooth had been turned on for the 30 minute ride but wasn't connected until halfway through a phone call. Bluetooth connections are always finicky but I was hoping Entune would be much better than Ford's Microsoft sync which is crap in my explorer.

Also, I've noticed if I have the hvac turned to just put air out at my feet it still blows slightly on the windshield. I can tell because it will fog up the front windshield in two spots. Not a big deal but want to know if this is normal. When I turn it to defrost, it will blow significantly more air.

 

When you initially pair your iphone, under the BT screen in your iphone, hit that (i) symbol and there is 1 selection you need to manually turn on, at least there was with mine. I just can't recall what it is, but basically make sure everything it green switched on.

There is a small hang up BT wise I have found but that's purely in relation to the message app.

As for the HVAC, I haven't even used mine yet really, I will have to check now. As for defrost I would expect it to blow more up top since that's exactly what it should do.

 

Still having trouble with Entune and iPhone 6. I actually have two iPhone 6's, one for work and one for personal use, that I have synced with the truck. I have removed both and then added them again. They pair up just fine and I can get messages, places calls, etc. I can manually select a song to play and it will play but if I try to use hands free it only looks for a USB audio source and fails. When I hold the phone button on the steering wheel Siri doesn't work. That's another one I came across the other day. I can however just trigger it on the phone. Same problem when trying to respond to a text message.

 

Forgot to mention that when I use siri to play a song or artist it works. Just doesn't work with handsfree. I emailed Toyota. Will post their response.

 

I'm a dumbass. I should have read the manual but who does that? I never heard back from Toyota so I got out the manual to see what functions I may be missing out on and discovered that with an iPhone you need to use the phone steering wheel button to activate siri instead of the handsfree steering wheel button. I guess when I first used it, it was dumb luck that I was using the right button.

 

Yea...for clarification for anybody else:

1. Pressing the voice button on the steering wheel activates the Entune head-unit voice features

2. Holding down the "phone off the hook button" on the steering wheel activates Siri hands-free mode on your phone.

 

I think that is normal. I have An Android S6 and cannot select songs from the phone using voice. It defaults to the USB. I put 32GB of music on the micro USB stick and don't use the phone at all for Audio. I also put some pics of the wife on the screen off.

 

Does this work for Google Now on Android too or just Siri?

 

Hm...I don't know. I've only tried with an iPhone.

 

It's in the Entune manual. I skipped over the Android section so I don't know if it works the same or not.

 

I just did the Entune update and it reset three times already. The truck is only 1.5 weeks old, what the heck? Anyone experiencing this?

 

3 updates? I have the Entune App Suite non JBL and I haven't had anyupdates. Is that something that's automatic or do I need to manually do it?

 

the update is automatic. There's only one update so far, sorry for the confusion. I mean the system reset three times. So I have to go in and reset the color, the navi, the BT phone/audio, apps, etc. Pain in the @$$, if you know what i mean.

 

Ya man, I've only had my truck for a week now but I haven't seen any notifications for an update. Sorry I can't help.

 

I have seen the same fogging windshield issue. When I turn the heat on feet the windshield fogs up and I have to change to defrost and feet.

 

Guys... there are 2 defrost modes... the high powered one has it's own button you push...(above the fan on/off button).. the other one is in the twist knob...this is good AFTER you warm the truck....it shows feet and defrost in the heater display area.... kinda got to look for it.......

Took me a while to finger it out also...
