i suspect its ebay/Amazon lights people are having issues with. as I said in the other thread, I swapped my vleds from my 2012 Tacoma over to the 2016 and not one issue.

Installed. License plate lights were a pain. My hands are too big. Had to take entire housing out to install. Lol

There are tabs along side the entire housing. I took two small screwdrivers and took entire thing out. Then the just pop back in. I had a hard time putting em back in too. Try that.

I had full led interior lights in both my 14 and currently in my 16 and have zero issues. Even if for some reason the interior lights stayed on in your truck, the there's a time delay relay that kills all power after 10 minutes of the engine shutting off (except power to necessary things like ECU's) to save your battery from dying

So far both lights have remained in place, and I have been out and about some fair amount of driving, so they may be fine. I will look into the housing however as well, just in case I can achieve a better fit. Thanks for the tip!

As for the interior lights... I was able to get them all replaced and no issues with any of it. The dome light was the only point of concern, but it went in, hung on and 5 days later is still fine, even after (while not off roading) held up to gravel roads.

If you can fit your hand between the bumper and the hitch, they just twist out of the bumper from the back side

Agree and I didn't really notice it until my wife was doing her makeup and out of my periferial there was a hint of purple light. It made me turn on all my LEDs to compare and once they are all on you can't really tell.

Just crawl under the bumper, find the gray connector for the license plate lights, turn CCW to remove, replace bulb, put connector back in place and turn CW. You WILL lose some skin and possibly draw blood since it is in tight quarters. Just make sure the connector is perpendicular to the ground (vertical) which will ensure it is seated and sealed correctly.

If you have thin pianist fingers like me, no blood loss... just some mild manner cursing that the neighbors may or may not hear.

Nice! So I guess it went smooth with no issues which might be a first since most of these folks have ogre hands by the sound of it.

HAHAHAHAHAHA -- The odd times my smaller hands are worth bragging about. When re-installing the lights, because the LEDs are a bit longer, it didn't go quite flush back into the housing but it seems to be holding up now 4 days later and I have been driving higher, dirt roads and paved since the install. So hopefully no future issues.

I got all my bulbs installed today.

The duct tape trick for the map lights didn't work for me.... But wrapping a small amount of duct tape (sticky side out) on the 2 tips of needle nose pliers and gently squeezing and pulling the bulbs out worked perfectly.

Thanks guys for all the great tips and instruction. I just replaced all interior lights as described by the OP and followed the lead of posts submitted throughout the thread and wow, what a huge difference. Cover removal on all lights was very easy with the given instructions. With the exception of the map lights, all bulbs were easy enough to remove. The only thing I might add is that I used a little light pressure to bend the dome spring back using a rubber tip hemostat and the 31mm bulb fit perfectly. I also used the hemostat to install all bulbs so as to avoid touching them and allowing some leverage to drive them home. Also, I used a dental pick that made short work out of removing the map lights. Thanks again to everyone for this mod, I couldn't be happier with the outcome and highly recommend it. image.jpgimage.jpg

For those having issues with the map lights, I removed the entire overhead console. Pulled it out from the sides and the whole thing came out.
Then I removed the light socket with a quick twist. Removed the light, installed the new ones, re-inserted the socket, then snapped the console back in. Very easy, but I was nervous about ripping down the console!!
