I did find that on second generation Tacomas you are able to run a larger size spare tire. Is this true with third gens? I'm wanting to carry a full size 285/75R18 spare but am unsure if it will fit on this new truck.

good question. I've seen others say it carries a full size spare so you have
a good chance this may fit.

For stock tire sizes, yes it does come with a full size spare. For those running larger tires, it does not come with a full size spare. Thanks.

Good question: will a 285 fit as a spare?

Depending on the exhaust hanger mount location, the diff and trailer harness, if its the same as the 2nd gen you should be able to fit a 33'' tire by bending or cutting the brackets. I did on my 11 and 15.
