Owner's manual only shows rear sensors, but in the manual it also says that front obstacles are detected at 1.5 ft. Also talkes about obstacles to the front and rear of vehicle.

It also says sensors are limited to the rear bumpers, a little confusing

Anybody know if there are detectors in the front bumpers?

Good question. I hope this will generate some discussion on the electronic sensors.
I found a Toyota site that demonstrates the front and rear parking assist sonar for Sienna, but I don't know if that is applicable to the '16 Tacoma.

Strange. This is what they write in the on-line manual

"If an obstacle has been detected within 1.5 ft (45 cm) of the front or 2.8 ft. (85cm) in the rear of vehicle....."

Maybe just a mistake when they wrote it.

With the new high hood, they would be handy in the front. The left front bumper is a real blind spot when parallel parking.
