My remote works, but my driver door will not lock.. suggestions?

 

Door lock actuator?

 

Do they go out often? Easy to replace?

 

They go out, I've seen a newer taco that had both go out on one side(double cab). Pretty easy to replace, just remove the door panel then peel back the plastic barrier and be careful with the linkage.

But all other doors lock/unlock with the remote or switch at the doors?

 

Others work fine. Is this a dealer item?

 

No, but you could get it from there. I'm pretty sure you can get it from any parts store.

 

I've had to have door lock actuators on every door replaced at least once and one door twice. The back drivers side door lock actuator is not working at present. Why is there not a recall on this part yet? It's on a 2012 pre runner crew cab. I'm very disappointed and considering selling it because of this. This is my 4th Toyota truck I've owned dating back to my 1985 sr5 King cab 4x4 I owned in high school. Does anyone know why this keeps happening? Is there a way to prevent it?
