I am going to be ordering a 20" On6six and I think I want the RacerEdition spot pattern, but would like some input.

I am wanting the light specifically for downrange throw, I have other lights for close up spill, so I would like to know if the 20" bar is going to be sufficient as my only long-range light. For comparison Ive always run two 6'' halogen KC daylighters with there pencil beam in the past.

    Thanks

The OnX6 Racer Edition was designed for reaching speeds of 115+ MPH and long range applications. It is the furthest projecting LED Light Bar on the market.
There is no comparison against the lights you have ran in the past. You will have more light near field, mid field, and down range. Depending on your other lights currently I would recommend the Driving/Combo pattern. You may experience a dead zone in your lighting due to the Racer Spots extreme distance.

What are you running for near field and mid field lighting?

    Thank You,
    Bailey, Baja Designs

To you and everyone else on TW, Have a great Thanksgiving !

Wow Thanks for the quick Thanksgiving reply!

In the past Ive always run three KCs, two pencil beams and one flood for all my auxiliary lighting. On this truck Im running a cheap Chinese LED bar that is all flood (which I want to get rid of) and I want to run one of your OnX6 bars and could possibly be talked into two of your pods such as the XL pro or XL80. This truck won't be driven particularly fast, but I spend most of my time in the open sage brush flats and want to be able to see predators and cattle at 500+ yards. The truck will see a lot of ~70mph on dirt roads or single lane roads.

    Hey Bailey,
So if i'm understanding this correctly, the S8 light will require a 3-way switch (Full output-Off-Amber DRL) to make use of the new DRL?
I currently have a touchscreen sPod SE that I'm using for my aux lights; same one Defconbrix is using. Will I be able to use my sPod for the S8's DRL lights?

I would definitely recommend the Racer Edition Driving/Combo. That will give you the 4 degree spot and wide 44 degree spread at a distance your lights currently do not reach.
It will be great for spotting predators and cattle at the sides or shoulders of the road. Makes a huge difference especially at high speeds.
If you aren't happy or want more distance I can send you the all spot lenses :)

The Wiring Harness we have does use an On/OFF switch and a separate momentary switch to control the amber DRL function.
You will be able to use the SPOD SE very easily! It will use two switches on your unit. 1- White On/OFF 1- Amber On/OFF.

We have our Ford Upfitter harness that I use on my Spod to attach to the terminals. I simply cut off the connectors and crimp on the Spod connector.
Here is the link to the upfitter I'd use for the S8. The length is just about 6ft:
    http://www.bajadesigns.com/ProductDetail?ItemNumber=640094

    Hook it up like this:
    Switch 1 - White Wire + , Black Wire -
Switch 2 - Green Wire + for Amber DRL

Wow, you are awesome. Answering my questions on Thanksgiving... who does that??? :)
For windy mountain roads with deer, which of the two is a better option, the driving/combo amber or the wide driving amber?
I see the explanation of both beam patterns but they both sound alike. I may have had too much wine at dinner :drunk:

I guess I'm crazy :D.... It's the black friday specials that have me on the computer haha. Also trying to recover from the food coma.
For windy mountain roads with wildlife I would go with the Driving/Combo.
Driving / Combo has Spot and Wide Driving optics giving you a combination of distance, near field, and mid field lighting.
Wide Driving is only the 44 degree wide which is great for only near and mid field lighting. You need the distance that the Driving/Combo has to offer for your type of driving.
It will allow you too see wildlife and react much faster.
