I noticed when I bought my 2016 Sport Tacoma it did not come with the rubber Toyota Hitch Cover that my 2008 did. I did a little research and not feeling good that the 2nd generation Hitch Covers will work. Thoughts anyone??

I don't see why it wouldn't fit. Either way it's a 2" receiver. There's a plethora of hitch covers for sale everywhere. Just do a quick Amazon search.

    I don't why they wouldn't. A Class 3 hitch receiver is a standard thing.

depending on what the hitch is mounted to, its either a class 3 or 4, on the Tacoma I would consider it a class 3 at most.

class 4 is rated up to 10k lbs, but no way in hell could you pull something that heavy even remotely safely. heck even a class 3 is suppose to be rated up to 8k lbs, but I still wouldn't even try pulling more than 5k with a Tacoma safely. you don't have the vehicle weight to safely pull the oem rated 65/6800 lbs imo.

Doesn't matter what class...it's a 2" cover to plug the hole. They can be found on Amazon, local auto store, and even lowes and home depot carry them...saw them at lowes the other day and was WTF...but they got towing chit, straps, balls,.....um...I feel like that list is going way south and TMI.

I understand the truck isn't capable of towing that much, but I know the Tow Package is a Class-4 receiver. Maybe the Tacoma isn't capable of towing 10k pounds, but the hitch is. Maybe not necessary to have a class 4 hitch, but I suppose it's nice knowing it won't be stressed with whatever you haul with the truck.

Just go to your local friendly drive thru carwash and ask them did they happen to find a Toyota hitch cover in the bay. These things always come off trucks/suvs when the spinning brush wraps around the vehicle.

Ask your dealer for a cover plate, they will give you it for free. At least my dealer did.
