Have you had any trouble with cold spots when doing things like hand washing dishes? I was wondering if it would be annoying when turning the water off and on. Which one do you have? I'm in need of replacing my power vented tank heater and would love to reclaim some space in my house

well, it's a good thing we generally don't have any weather; but El Nino may change that this winter!

Thats a cool concept for sure but wouldn't translate too well to where I live

    Window seems to operate nicely

Hopefully, the paying for itself might actually be difficult as the current project is time and material, so that's going to interesting.

You probably cost yourself more money by having to re-heat 40 gallons of water each time your timer kicks on.

Conventional tank direct vent gas hot water heaters should cost $250-$300 a year to run. Possibly less. So, pay back would be 10-20 years.

They may estimate that the tankless last 20 years but, they carry the same or very similar warranties and with more complex electronics there's no way I would trust it. But, if you have the money to pay for the more expensive one up front and want to save the space and a little on monthly bills. Go for it and let us know how it works!

I have never had a cold spot issue, once the hot water is coming out of the faucet, it continues to be hot for as long as i leave it on. I have a viessmann heater. Here is a picture of the entire set-up. The viessmann unit is the white box on the left, the blue tank on the right is my well pressure tank and the gray tank in the middle is the drinking/house water.
