Thanks for the tip... now I just have to store that somewhere in my 54 year old brain. Let's see... between don't shake soda pop and the lyrics to Pop Goes the Weasel.... yep, got it.

Of course, there's the off chance you're pulling the newb's leg.

Welcome aboard Cam! Oh wait another AF guy, sighhh.. :) Retired USN here and there is at least one more that pops in from time to time. I am impressed how many not only military, previous service and retired, but civil service are on here. Good group all in all if you ask me. Hope your thanksgiving was good!

Oh so not funny... LOL. Temp was 9 when I hit the woods this morning. Had my wad of mountain money with me and just hoping like hell I didn't need to use it!

All great meals start with first you cook a pound of bacon, did that yesterday morning. For Thanksgiving boned out the grouse breast and dredged it in my secret recipe, and of course fried it in bacon grease.

Everything else for the most part was cooked in my cast iron dutch oven, of course coated with bacon grease before it hit the oven. Turned out really well, even a blind squirrel gets a lucky nut once in awhile. Only ate the breast tenderloins the rest I will eat when I get home.

No mountain money was needed in the woods today, although the thought crossed my mind more than once that once you pass 50 never trust a fart. Just saying....

Dog made out well he got grease from the soup I made at the beginning of the week and 76%\24% raw hamburger to try and keep the weight on him.

Leave in the morning to go back to the real world. Have to cook a real Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday for a lady friend and my sons. Am looking forward to it, hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Thanks, I'm retired now. Did it for 36 years in NJ. Both of my sons are Virginia Beach FD. That's why the wife and I moved down here. Thank you for your service. :oldglory:

Morning, everyone. Have an awesome day!
Tough job to do for 36 years. You earned that retirement.

I also have a brother-in-law who is retired from the DC Fire Department as a Captain. Not sure how long my son will stick with it, he's already talking about cross training into an Air Crew position in a couple of years. But in the meantime he's learning a lot and will have a marketable set of skills should he not make the USAF a career.

    Thank you, appreciate it, Chief!
