Well, I feel like a tool posting so many questions lately but I'd rather buy right thing first time.

Basically I'm looking at replacing speakers in my 01 regular cab Tacoma prerunner
    I was looking at:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001P88U12?keywords=Rockford fosgate 6x8&qid=1448690892&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1

And Amazon says they'll fit, but crutchfield and sonicelectronix both say it won't due to the mounting height. I've attached an image of what the sites actually say.

Anybody have any experience with the max mounting height without any modifications to door in one of these trucks?
Thanks, and I apologize for the amount of questions around here.

Listen to Crutchfield and only Crutchfield

EDIT: those wont fit without cutting and a custom mount

Here are my options / what I'm stuck on:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-6fZYAanYVEM/p_2064CS684/Kicker-40CS684.html (would fit no matter what, but not be as good sounding as other choices)
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-RWIzJmiy3bQ/p_575R168X2/Rockford-Fosgate-Prime-R168X2.html (crutchfield says these fit, Amazon says they don't, sonicelectronix says they don't fit, so not sure)

Can't really decide, the RF Prime pair is cheap, and obviously sounds great, but 2 sites say they don't fit, while crutchfield says they do. The kicker pair definitely fit, but costs more, and the pair probably isn't as solid as the RF prime pair.

This is my first car, I'm young, and am really confused here if I am honest. Advice is greatly appreciated. If anyone has any better suggestions LMK. Budget is around $75 for the pair of speakers.

Note: I already have a subwoofer installed in my vehicle.

RF are good quality, if they say it's a match go for it.

I really wanted the RF pair in the OP, but crutchfield says they do not fit, and I really don't want to alter much (0 experience) the other RF pair that is linked right above your post, crutchfield says they fit, while 2 others sites say they don't, so I am confused on whether they fit or whether they don't.

Yeah, but that's never fun :p

I'm curious if anybody here knows better speakers, that'll definitely fit within my price range, as my budget is quite a bit higher than the price of these speakers.

Alpines, jbl, or infinities lower end line. Get components if within your budget.

You should sound deaden the doors aswell if a quality sound is what you want.

Will be sound deadening truck later on as well.

I still cannot decide between http://www.crutchfield.com/S-RWIzJmiy3bQ/p_575R168X2/Rockford-Fosgate-Prime-R168X2.html
    or
    http://www.crutchfield.com/S-6fZYAanYVEM/p_2064CS684/Kicker-40CS684.html

As I am not sure if that RF prime pair will fit, as crutchfield says it'll fit but 2 others sites says it won't. Also not sure on the quality of that pair of kickers. As said before, I really like the pair in OP, but apparently they won't fit and I'm not sure how difficult it'd be to modify the doors for them. I don't have a whole lot of options for my vehicle without modification and the decision is painful :p

even the ones that do fit will require a 1/4" spacer ring in order to fit so make sure you buy those or you will have issues.

stock oem speakers are thin low profile and anything aftermarket wont sit into the mount all the way so you need the spacers to fill the gap and be able to mount them

Alright thanks for heads up bud.

I took off door panel to check out whats in there now, and its... stock speakers bleh. I broke like 5 of those clips that hold the door together, I don't see how it's possible to remove the door without breaking them, lol.

You can get proper panel tool at most autoparts stores for a few bucks. My truck uses all 6.5s so i didnt have the fitment issues for speakers. Mounted a 4 channel amp behind glovebox.
