95 Tacoma xtra cab base 2.7, 5speed . 2" lift, header, cold air intake, dual elec fan, some body rust with under 100k. I've had it for 1 1/2 years and paid 6600.00 which I thought was a fair deal. I had been looking for one for a few years, I wanted the 4cyl. and got it out of Juneau Alaska. I haven't regretted it one minute.its been a great truck

04 prerunner ext cab 3.4 v6 automatic with 110k miles, no rust, no dents, like new interior with 60/40 bench but needed full set of tires, leaf springs, and rear shocks for $10,500. found no rust at all in the bed where the bed liner used to be, but there were a few spots of missing paint that rubbed off.

NOTE - its not a real TRD truck, the dealer just put that sticker on it to make look cooler so it sells faster lol.

Bought in 2008, 190000 miles, clean title, compression test was good (all within 10psi if i recall).
Had new tires, new catalytic, interior 9/10, exterior 7/10, rust free Cali car.

Still runs like a king with about 300k miles now.

    $6000 plus tax.

Paid $10K back in 2011. Major mods, but it was what I wanted. Very rare step side 3.4L V6. I've had about 6 Taco's, but this one is my fav.

I bought it from a car dealer in Ohio and had it trucked to me. I paid $10K for it and I've put about $20k worth of mods to it. 131,000 K miles. I have a Budbuilt front skid plates and will be getting skids for drive train and differential, traction bar and sway bar. It's a very rare step side with a 3.4L V6.

Well, i guess since someone else re-bumped this thread i will blabber

    Short Story: I over payed.

Long Story: I have been looking for a taco since 2002. At that time I was in the paridigm that buying new was foolish. I had a "toyota pickup" in the 90's and borrowed a t100 often and loved them. I was sad to see the body change in '05. In '06, '07, '10, '13-16 i considered buying new. I NEVER thought i would consider buying new, but it is hard to find a deal on a used toyota truck in colorado, most deals sell in a day. It was even harder to find one with low rust and manual trany. They hold value here in Colorado like no other vehicle. I see people asking nearly the listed new price for a 2 year old taco? When test driving the gen 2s i was always tuned off by the electronic features that come standard, the not so great clearance, and the overly large body size. I waited almost a year to test drive a manual 2016. It was even worse. Clearly the trajectory for toyota trucks in the USA market is BIGGER body, lower clearance and more electronic amenities. (same with the land cruiser and 4runner). So, I immediately said 'screw it,' i will be the sucker and will pay more than I should for a used gen 1 because it is more what i want and i just do not have time to surf craigslist every hour to be the first to get a deal. I even compromised on my steadfast rule of only owning a manual trany when i opted for a gen 1.(i needed the 4 door because i have a family).
After looking at well over 100 tacos in the last year (most were rusty). I paid over blue book for a 2004 4door TDR off road, 77k miles, young cooper discoverer ATPs on it. Almost no rust on the frame. I can not bring myself to admit how much over blue book i paid. I hope I bring everyone a sense of joy when i say i am envious of the deals listed in this thread.
I don't feel i got a bum deal. Not many 04s have <100k on them. It was worth the extra money to be able to have it inspected by my mechanic before the sale. Also I liked the previous owner and that leaves peace of mind.
Maybe someday, if i move away from the mountains and toyota offers a manual diesel off road with decent clearance I will consider a gen 3 or 4 or... I am more motivated to buy a low mile part donor gen1 because i think it might be many decades before toyota makes a small truck in North America again.

A rust free 1st gen 4 door TRD with only 77k miles is a rare find around here. I know you stated that you paid over blue book but it sounds like you got exactly what you wanted and low mileage to boot. With proper maintenance that's easily a 300k mile truck. Sounds to me you got exactly the truck you wanted instead of spending money on a truck that you really don't like, that's worth something.

I've been driving around my 98 5-speed 4x4, 4 cyl for a while and this past Saturday decided to purchase a slightly newer model. Bought an 03 V6 Prerunner for 10k. Probably over paid, but it only has 120k on it. Kind of hard to find around here in SoCal. Most 01-03's already have 170k and up on them and usually go for between 9-13K. Anyway its in great condition. The only this is that the gas door flap kind of rattles when I drive. Also, as you can expect with a 3in lift and 33's, the gas mileage sucks. I just watch the needle go down as I drive. :( but other than that, I'm loving the truck! So happy with my purchase...!
