I am wondering if one of you who installed a new Gentex Mirror with Homelink would share advise before I break a mounting tab! Does the front end come down first? Or back? And I don't see any screws that help retain it (like my 2008 Tacoma had)

Am I missing something? Thanks for the assistance!

Open up the eye glass holder and check for a mounting screw. And start in the corners and pull it down easy.

I bought the mirror from him. He says 4 clips are all that retain the unit.

My '14 had one screw in it. Just start in the corners and pull it down.

Picture of underside of overhead console. Red clips are all that's holding it in. It does pop out and pop back in.

That must be an automatic. I don't see the back of the sunglass holder. I'll post up the back of a manual when I pull it.

Thanks guys! 4-clips is the correct answer. Easy to remove, easy to reinstall.

As promised. Here is the back of the manual transmissions upper console. One photo shows the back of it (same 4 red push connectors). The second shows my newly installed switches in the sunglasses holder. Thanks for the help everyone!20151129_105107.jpg 20151129_101900.jpg

can you still use the sunglass holder though? I was thinking of mounting some switches there when I get mine but don't want to lose the holder.

No those switches take up every square centimeter of space inside that sunglass holder

Check out this post by tanabersx

Did mine yesterday, bought 50-GENK40A4 from eBay $210. Homelink with autodim mirror, didn't needed the compass since it is on the cluster screen. 2016 Tacoma mirror compass sensor is built in mirror so no worries in damaging any sensor in the truck. Didn't took pictures but tapped wires on my truck were:
    -Blue - constant 12v
    -Brown - Switched 12v
    -White/Black - Ground
Tuck everything inside top and done.

Hope this helps, also if you are testing with a multimeter note that switched 12v only powers when engine is running. (Took me a while to figure that one out)

Please be aware colors may not be the same in all trucks.
