I have a 2009 tocoma sr5 quad cab 4x4. It has stock 245/75/r16. I want to get a 265/ 75/r16. I know this tire will fit. I want to get the tires first then the lift can't afford all upfront. My lift is where I am confused at. I have been on this site everyday doing research. I want a simple 2.5- 3" lift. For looks as well as function. My offroading would consist of surf checks and beach fishing. I was leaning towards old man emu or blisteens 5100. They are the most common from what I understand and easy on wallet! I talked to my local 4wd shop and they said I could get a ready tec lift with sounds like a block in back. The kit would be about $400. The rest is labor. Total kit install$850! Yikes. This seems like a lot ! Does anyone know about this company or lift?
Also I do not want to be pushed into anything! I can no do the install myself or else I would!

Does anyone know of a place where I could buy a lift kit and have a shop install it.
Or does anyone know of any members on here who could help me for pizza and beer. I have a family so safety is also a huge concern too!

Thank you for your time . I'm in ocean county nj

    Matt.

I vote for you and a couple buddies installing the lift. It's really not that hard, and there are numerous threads and ppl on here that can walk you through it. Save your money. You will also learn a lot by doing it yourself.

I personally wouldn't go that route. I researched lifts on for several months before pulling the trigger on mine. I ended up getting the kit I linked below and I'm very happy with it. I got 887 coils, no diff drop, no UCAs - my truck is lifted about 2.75" up front and 1.5-2" in the rear, so it sits with a slight rake. It ended up being about $600 for parts, then another $500 for install + alignment (dealership, so probably not the cheapest but they gave me a good deal on wheels/tires). Again, very happy with the stance and it rides great.

I wouldn't fret over the lift. Yet.

Put the tires on and use the truck. If you find you need a functional lift for some reason, that reason will drive your goals, and thus your shopping.

If after using the new tire setup a while you find you don't need a lift for function, you may be all done. But if you decide you still want one for looks, a whole 'nuther set of answers might be appropriate.
