    Hey guys,
I know I'm new to the forum, but Friday I brought my 13 2.7l in to the dealer, as I had gotten a CEL with a P0420 code. Earlier that day, I noticed my exhaust where my cat was, sounded like the wastegate dumping on my old STi- usually a sign of a bad cat. As I got into the service dept and was talking to someone, the manager came over and handed the lady a piece of paper- a new recall that has been posted about the cats being defective for 2010-14 2.7's. I've attached a pic of the recall information this way it can maybe help some others get notified. Hopefully I don't get flamed for not putting this in the right section :fingerscrossed:

I don't believe so. Recalls are for every vehicle effected no matter the mileage/condition.

Check your VIN on Toyota's website to see if your truck is applicable. Sometimes you'll be placed on a "waiting list" until parts and supplies arrive. Just an idea, so you don't waste gas/time at the dealer. Let me find the link and I'll post it on here.

I'm on mobile, but here is the link. If you're on PC just type "Toyota Recall" in Google and it'll be one of the first ones listed.

This is Not a recall it is a Special Service Campaign.

Campaigns conducted by Toyota can be Safety Recall Campaigns, Special Service Campaigns and/or Limited Service Campaigns.

If you have completed a Campaign, but are experiencing concerns with your vehicle, please contact your local Toyota, Lexus, or Scion dealer for an inspection. Should you require additional assistance, please refer to the Contact Us section at the bottom of this page.

    Safety Recall Campaign
In accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act, when Toyota, Lexus, or Scion has determined that either a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety or a noncompliance with a Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard exists in your vehicle, a Safety Recall Campaign is launched. The specified inspection and/or repair will be performed at no charge to the vehicle owner.

    Special Service Campaign
A Special Service Campaign is the Toyota, Lexus, or Scion owner notification program to inform customers about specific product or technical issues for which inspection and/or repair is being offered without an expiration date. These issues are typically customer satisfaction initiatives. The described service will be performed at no charge to the vehicle owner.

    Limited Service Campaign
Limited Service Campaigns are programs to inform customers about a product or technical issue for which inspection and/or repair is being offered for a specified period. Toyota requests that customers take advantage of this service prior to an expiration date. The described inspection and/or repair will be performed at no charge to the vehicle owner provided the Limited Service Campaign has not expired.

    My notice came today.

I'll be participating, even though the truck is still pretty low mileage and has not shown any problem yet..

Don't see anything in the paperwork regarding any 'different' warranty for the new piece, so I'm assuming it will have the same limitations as the original emissions warranty.

I bought the truck with 62,500 on it. Drove maybe 1200mi and it came on. Drove it maybe another 60 with the CEL on, and it only got worse. The only reason I had to drive it was because the dealer didn't even have the parts in for the repair, as I got there the day they issued the SSC. Definitely much better now!

I was at 130,230 kms when my catalytic converter failed. 230 kms after warranty expired. Toyota told me to go pound sand. Maybe I will get my converter after all!

The recall only applies to the four cylinder but you may be able to get it changed under the emissions warranty. Depends on what's wrong.

I don't recall but I thought the time was 5 years. Have a look in your owners manual and post so others will know.
