I'd just like the settlements to have a point. Maybe better assistance or roaming patrols once a certain population and happiness is reached. It be really sweet if they somehow brought them into the story line in an expansion.

Don't get me wrong. I love SimCity and Strategy games where everything is about building, but I want some sort of tie in with Fallout between the creation and the gameplay outside the settlements.

Someone will expand the settlements with mods. Make the attacks have consequences and rewards, implement some more story elements, just make that part of the game a little more meaningful. The thing that I think is great about this game is, the potential for adding depth with mods is more than any previous FO game, imo.

In the jamaica town theres a huge laser hallway with a switch at the end, disarm all traps, reset the switch and go back the other way disarming again.

I love dogmeat no matter how many times he gets me killed. No partner is really conducive to a sneaky character. They always give away my position. Dogmeat is actually the best I've had at hiding.

I'd have to agree, of all the companions he's the best for sneaking around, but he's also the best at stepping on land mines right next you and blowing your legs off though. If you want stealth don't get Curie, as soon as she sees something she'll just run to it and start punching it. Its always comical watching her run up to a deathclaw or a suicider and start punching it, it is a quick way to get rid of suiciders though.

Found a deathclaw gauntlet last night. Not very good, although it does have a chance to disarm enemies. Also found a pimped out shotgun that demolished said deathclaw in 4 shots.

    Quick question

For settlements that are all robots like Graygarden , do you need beds for the robots ? I didn't think so because the beds stat was green with 0 beds and 6 robots there , but I just sent 2 human settlers there so I added 3 beds and when you hover on the beds in crafting mode it indicates they are all occupied

Played some today during the 3/24 hours i wasnt working, ha. Knocked out quite a few quests and rebuilt my base. It turned out pretty sweet, i have it built over the creek area in sanctuary with 3 floors. Top being my area with power armor, crafting, and just other stuff. 2nd floor with shops and bar type stuff. 1st floor is living quarters. Ill have to nab a shot later of it

    LOL.

So I started a settlement on the large island to the SE of the map. It has tons of water access right next to a flat plain, perfect for setting up a long term water generating base. Anyways, at this point in the game I trade my loot for junk and I stock pile it to reinforce each new settlement. So with that settlement pumping out ~160 water I wanted at least ~170 defense. I blew my junk on missile turrets and built my little base like an old fort with the towers having clear fields of fire. So I leave and within 10 minutes it says the base is under attack. I fast travel back, I put my fast travel spot on the hill over looking everything, and the base is getting attacked by Supermutants (somehow they are landing an amphibious attack?) Anyways, funny as shit, all I can see from the +4 missile turrets bombarding them are body parts flying as they are dying. The battle lasts about 15 seconds. Missile turrets in groups from a good vantage point=badass.

Just as I was about to leave again a mirlurk stumbled to close to the turrets too... lobster explosion...

Ive seen my laser turrets that are placed on the sanctuary side of the bridge shoot a random bloatfly that was flying on the other side. Pretty entertaining to see 3 of those just shoot red lasers across the screen and wonder wtf at. I had to go into vats just to find it.

Sanctuary is a pain in the arse to defend. The raiders come from the woods area all the time for me. My Bridge is blocked off completely (my caravan fords the river, ((your family has died of dysentery, Oregon trail reference)). And my tower has perched laser turrets everywhere now. If only I could find a way to make the tower look a little more clean, in referencing the wires.

Mine has never been attacked. My defense is just barely above water production too

Same here. I went a little overboard on the defenses though. It would be nice if they upped the amount and skill level of attackers that siege higher level defenses to make it interesting. The only settlements of mine that get attacked are the ones with low or no defenses.

I'm a little dissappinted with the settlement defense and the whole settlement building aspect to be honest. As others have said, I love the build and design aspect, but I wish there was a point to it all. I feel like the objective is just setting up shops and supply lines to make money, but I find everything I need and more by scavenging and selling items to vendors.

I'm currently level 39 and doing the main story line because I've run out of side missions (other than the repeating Minutemen and Brotherhood type). After I finish, I'm going to do it all again on hard to see how that works.
