Wondering if anyone had any idea where the best place to buy one would be? Good experience with vendors? Or if you would know of a vendor who offers Tacoma world Discounts on them. Thanks!

You will make more friends (and keep more of the ones you have) without the snorkel.

Of course, if you live on land surrounded by unpredictable rivers, then I apologize in advance.

Snorkels aren't just for water crossings and douchebags who wanna look cool. I've trashed air filters and fouled maf sensors that tripped cel's and a time or two have had to pull off the paved road on my way home to clean shit out after following people close on dusty fs roads and considering the air is pulled from inside the fender well it's not hard to do.

This isn't an opinion poll either. If someone wants a snorkel your's and/or the crowd you run with's perception of them is irrelevant

Not necessary. Nothing that tapping your air filter on your front bumber can't fix.

Or you could just get a snorkel and not have to worry about it as much? Stopping every half an hour to knock the dust out of your air filter gets old, especially when you're on a super dusty trail for four days. And if I truly lose friends because of an addition to my truck, they're probably not worth having anyways.

I want a snorkel because summer months raise and lower streams in Appalachia in a matter of hours. The way I Offroad we go out 4-5days at a time and can we can potentially be stuck from our destination by a stream that was 1 foot deep yesterday now has risen to 4. Wouldn't you feel better crossing water with the only way to get air into your motor being above the water instead of surrounded by it? Plus I think they look cool as hell

Spoken like a guy who doesn't see a need and can judge for himself if he needs one but has his head up his ass if he thinks he should judge for someone else if they need it.

Hows pulling air from down low by the bumper gonna help me when I'm following a guy booting up a cloud of dust?

Snorkels are designed to pull fresh air from a high point above where the dust is heaviest, and they are added assurance for water crossings.

How's pulling air from the bumper gonna help me when I'm in water over the top of it?

    It won't

Try thinking beyond your own need before you pipe off dude

I like my snorkel. Do I ever cross streams and actually use it? No. I would if and when I'm ever faced with that situation. About the friends part....I've had more conversations come from that one item on my truck than any other thing I've ever done to any of my vehicles. No regrets from buying it whatsoever. One negative that I have noticed is that if you do a lot of night driving in the summertime, your air filter will collect lots of bugs..., that's on a paved road. On the buying it cheaper subject, I too have not seen one under $400.00. You can mail order it from out of state and from a dealer that doesn't have a store located in your state and avoid the state sales tax. I tried doing this exact thing when buying mine, didn't work because the vendor had a store in my state that I wasn't aware of....ended up paying the sales tax anyway. Still no regrets though.

Thanks for the replies guys. I know it's going to cost 400$+ and that's no issue. I like paying for quality and anyone who has the brains to buy ARB knows they are the definition of quality. My parents said if I throw a few bills at it toward my Christmas present they will get it for me. So I'm gonna be getting one soon I hope!

To each his own, good luck with your purchase and hope you enjoy it. I have a 167 eBay snorkel, paid $140 shipped from China, it's great for what it is, and since I need money for other stuff like dual batts and a winch I'm happy I saved $300 over an ARB.

After all, they're essentially made from the same plastic as a rubbermade garbage can, if the fit is good and they aren't breakable I see no reason to waste another three bills

I will add though, if you wanna safari snorkel (ARB) it'd be good to support a small business like Sierra Expeditions or Expedition Exchange. Both are competitively priced, support the expedition and off road communities and have awesome customer service.

Their staff are knowledgable and use their products, definitely the best option for where to buy in my opinion

I stand corrected - if you are secretly moving immigrants over the border or live deep inside BLM land, I can see a use for snorkels.

For the rest of us, they are a lightning-rod for chuckles. To each his own.

I live in the land of the Prius, I get dirty looks just for the fact I drive a truck let alone one with armor and a lift. I could care less what others think, seriously not a concern.

I play in the dirt though, I've driven my truck from Alaska to San Diego and almost all points in between west of the Rockies, and a snorkel = one less thing to worry about.

Lol who are these people laughing at Tacomas with snorkels? Never ever have I met one single person who looks at one and laughs. Sorry but 99 percent of the people I talk to love both the look and the function. Also to be clear ARB does not use " garbage can lid " plastic. It has been tested over and over for durability and strength and surpassed every " cheap eBay" imitation. I don't know about you but I would rather not have a faded piece of plastic bolted to my fender in 6months. Furthermore not to brag but my truck is built with top line products, not to be cool or try to be the best, but because I can depend on them. Like I said earlier, I go out for multiple days at a time and I need to depend on my gear and I trust the equipment I use and pay the price for that equipment for that exact reason. I have bought cheaper less quality products and depended on them and have been let down or worse in the past by them. That's why I won't buy cheap gear. Hence the title to this thread.
