Most states have a lemon law that if the dealer can't fix the problem after three attempts they have to replace it.

You have every right to be upset. You have a new vehicle that you are making payments on and it's sitting at the dealer because it's broken. Not acceptable in my book either, sounds like they have done nothing yet as far as actually replacing parts. It's also not acceptable for a dealer to ''repair'' a paint chip with a paint pen on a new vehicle. A proper paint repair wouldn't even be noticeable and should have been blended in.

In regards to the paint issue, I'm with fxntime 100%; if the dealership was worth anything and really valued you as a customer, they would have taken the time to repair the chip properly. If the GM won't fix it correctly, then go to the owner (if it's not the same person). That's on them.

As for your other issue: as stated before, most states have a lemon law, but the criteria is different state to state. Look up your state's Dept of Consumer Protection to see what needs to be done. Seeing as your dealership won't fix a paint chip properly, my hopes aren't high for you on this, but fingers crossed. Hope they at least gave you a loaner.

Oh, and if you noticed the issue on the test drive, why'd you buy the truck?

I'd have every news station in town banging on their door. Bad media gets these big companies moving quick. Demand a new truck or this grimlin will follow you past the warrantee and it could be your problem down the road if they can't find the problem or fix it properly.
