Just get the basic kit and then you can build it the way you like it. If you don't want to spend the money on expensive coilovers you can always install the longer bilstein shocks used on the rcd lift. f4-be5-e122-to

Yea I looked at those from a previous post of yours. Would I need different coils? How about rear bilsteins?

The longer bilsteins will give you an overall lift with stock coils of 5" in front. What you can do is install ome 883's or ebiach coils ( 1.5's) which will give you and additional 1.5 lift to put you just a tad over the 6" height. You could also just run the stock coils and add a 1/2 top plate which spacer which I did which will yield you about 3/4 extra height. In the rears I used the bilsteins BE5-B110-T5 shocks which are also used on the rcd lift.

I'm trying to go away from the block in the rear and I already have dakars (off my old truck not installed yet). I'm thinking about using the dakars with a shackle flip and try to get the 4-5" lift in the rear, but with more flex. Do you guys know what is a good shackle flip kit and what length bilsteins? Will a 12" shock work and give me droop?

Shackle flip with an extended shackle will give you more height. Of course a 12" will work but you will have to relocate

I know you relocate on lower lifts but I wasn't sure if you could run them in stock location with a higher lift.

I'm getting ready to shackle flip and have a 5" shackle over the OEM 4"

Go to ATOs page and look at their shackle flip. A stock shackle with flip will yeild .75" and you can go up from there.

I did see the HD shackle on ATO's site which is stock length,I didn't see them offer any others. I'm just trying to use the Dakar leafs since I already have them, and they are good leafs. I'll be at 2.75"+.75" but I'll still need a bit more. So how does shackle math work? And inch longer gives a 1/2" lift?

That's cool,I'm just trying to figure out my plan. I appreciate the help. I'll keep an eye on your build thread.

Have you thought about adding arch to your current leafs?

@NABeast this is from ATO's thread on the shackle flips.

I am currently running the oem 4leaf pack with the PC AAL,it's really short. Plus the 2" block. I think the PC AAL is a 2"? I was thinking about taking a couple leafs out of the oem and add them to the Dakar. I know, crazy thoughts. How do you add arch the the leafs? Would the PC AAL help the dakars?

Is the Dakar a full leaf pack? (10pack)
If you have a spring shop in town you can have them add arch. This is what I did to my leafs only removed arch.

Was just going to say what Jon said above. @NABeast not sure where in florida you are but if close to tampa try http://www.tampaspringco.com/. Our company I work for uses them all the time for custom spring modifications.

    Yes
The problem with adding more arch or subtracting too is that it changes the eye to eye distance of the leaf pack which in turn will change the shackle angle...which affects spring rate. If your shackle position is too far forward or too far back it is no Bueno. Adding arch to a pack is bad news because it will pull the shackle forward as it shortens the eye to eye. The only correct way to do it is a " hot " rework to search a pack and then re roll the ends to shorten the eye to eye.

I would suggest doing some online research about shackle angles to understand how much it impacts suspension performance...as with anything - modifying something that was made for " this " to try to turn it into " that " is rarely going to yield the proper result.

The dakars I have are 7 leaf. I'm west of Orlando,so Tampa isn't too far. I'll look into them, thanks again.

Call Dakar and see what they say. Deaver told me that taking an inch out using a cold method would not take strength from the leaf at all. Dunbar said the same thing when I took mine in.

    Yes
It does not remove any strength from the leaf pack but when you lowered your spring pack you lengthened the eye to eye distance which in turn pushed your shackle back. When you install your ATO flip you should play with the flip bracket and shackle location to get your shackle position correct.

If he adds arch to his it shortens the eye to eye distance which in turn pulls the shackle forward. A shackle is not intended to just sit at any ol' position, the position of the shackle directly impacts spring rate, ride quality etc. Seriously guys, do some reading this is not opinion.. It is pesky math and science stuff.

I've seen other kits that have multiple holes for adjusting. The ATO kit says its adjustable but the pictures it doesn't look like it is. All this talk makes me think of an old Suzuki samurai with 10" shackles that are vertical when sitting on the ground. I know I've seen something like that before. Haha.
