Hello, iv had my Tacoma a few years, bought it new in 2012. Its only got about 24000miles about the same as my Harley Limited bought in 14, you can see where my priorities are lol. Anyway this will be the first set of tires, the stock 16" GF goodrich tires have been ok but my question is what is a good tire to replace them with?

The Biggest, best driving, stays the quietest the longest, good all around road and some off road, longest lasting tires i could put on the stock 16 inch wheels? And the best way to level the truck?

Rugged Trails done @ 24k? Or replacing early? 265/75/16 is one inch larger. Most will point you to BFG All-terrain TA KO2, Michelin M/S 2, or Cooper AT3.

Bilstein 5100 struts seem to be the minimal acceptable leveling option. Apparently for best results you will want to change the coil springs and possibly control arms.

    Want it all huh?

How about ranking those goals in order? 'Cause no one can meet them all; every choice will compromise something else.

For example, best off road will not be the best on road. Longest lasting (high treadwear, hard compound) will be on the low end of grip on pavement. Quietest tire will be a road tread, but not the best in mud, sand or snow...........

As far as lift, are you doing it for functional reasons, or just to look purdy? The answer will likely affect component choice.

As you guys can easily see I have not done much homework and the truck is not my main passion. But I do like the truck with no intensions of getting rid of it any time soon. I'm wanting to stay in the middle of the road with the tires and leveling kit and not go overboard on stuff as usual.

I'll rephrase the expectations, a good all around tire that is a little bigger (not touch anything when turing) Looks good and the same for the level kit and stays looking good throughout as the tire wears, not too bad gas mileage and more runs quite throughout its life. Deep mud or off-roading is not the intension.

The BF tires are not worn out, I'm just trying to decide if going with Bigger tires is going to make me have to modify a bunch of other stuff.
Thank you guys for the quick replies, it makes sense and makes me rethink what I'm asking. :)

I see you have a TRD Off Road.....That should have came equipped with 265/75/r16's. Unless you want to do a substantial lift and a few more things, that's the best size to stick with. There are a few other options as far as size, but the choices of available tires are best with the 265/75's.

It would be helpful if you could assign a percentage to on road vs off road abilities, as well as a price point at which you feel comfortable.

Personally, I'm liking my Goodyear Duratracs.....265/75/r16's load range C.....But they aren't the highest mileage tires on the market, nor are they the quietest.

Just to clarify, Stock TRD OR tire size is 265/70/16 which is approximately 30.5" diameter.

Commonly, folks upsize to 265/75/16 which is approximately 31.5" diameter. No lift required and no rubbing will occur.

On 2011 TRD OR, stock rubber was 265/75/r16. Still have one of the originals as a spare.
A neighbor has a 2012 with 265/75's. I have no clue when the switch would have been made to 265/70's........

I'd love to see a pic of that spare. I could be mistaken, but I believe that the only 05-15 Tacoma that came stock with 265/75/16 would be the TRD Pro.

Thanks guys, going with the 265/75r 16", the stock tires are 265/70r 16", do you recomend a good AT tire that stays looking good as it wears and decent fuel mileage?

Yokohama Geolander A/T are what I have, it is my 3rd set on my last 2 trucks. They have been good as an all around tire.
