I might bail early depending on weather. If the ground is dry we may be fine as the trail is pretty easy. But given the liklihood of rain I don't think the KO2s I'm running will be much help.

Del paso and I-5 work for me. I'll figure out what time I'll be passing through

I think 8:30am and leave by 8:45am to get to the Chevron in Upper Lakes by 11. It's about 2 hour drive from Natomas to the official meet up location.

Haha. Nick depending on where you want to camp, you could do what I did the other day when I went to cut wood. Stash the trailer at the bottom, where the organized campgrounds are (which are closed, btw) and hit the trails. Then return to the lower elevations to make camp. Might not be ideal, but it's an option.

Closed as in the gates to the campgrounds are shut and locked. But you still have the entire valley floor to explore. Here's what our campsite from last time looked like when I was up there.

Both the truck and trailer have Mud terrains.

Lol, well unless the trailer has it's own motor and drivetrain, it might as well be on slicks :)

My thoughts on the trailer: you could probably make it up the trail, BUT in the even that you don't, or more likely, that someone else on the trail ahead of you doesn't, turning around or backing all the way down with the trailer will be a huge pain in the ass... Also, the last section of trail leading up to the lookout will be mega sketchy, and with no real space for turnaround at the top, I wouldn't bring a trailer up there. THAT IS, of course if you choose to go up there, which i probably won't. Additionally, once up in the snow some of the fun romping around, donut spinning and general shenanigans might be less fun with trailer in tow.
    My thoughts on Options:
    A. scrap the trailer idea
    B. Leave the trailer down in the flats, run the trail, cut a tree, return to flats to camp.
    C. Leave trailer in the flats, run the trail, cut a tree, return to flats to pick up trailer, take fire road all the way back up to the peak.
    D. Leave the trailer in the flats, run the trail, go back down to flats to pick up trailer, then take fire road up top, cut tree, etc.
    E. Run the trailer. Damn it all.

    Lotsa options.

I have a installed cb and if I want to share comms with someone I have two Baofeng's (ham and illegal FRS are awesome!!!).

What is this issue with AT?

I went with it because I thought all the MT vs. AT talk was the same as when I drove on the track and my twin clutch AT out drove the MT porsche crybabies. That and finding a white DCSB TRD OR 4x4 in MT was impossible when I was looking. They looked at me like I was cooking the pipe while I was asking...

    ^lol.
In this discussion MT is referring to Mud Terrain
AT is referring to All Terrain.
