I've noticed that some people are explicitly saying they ordered their truck with d rings. Mine came standard with two at the rear of the bed. Are they taking about a second set somewhere else? If so, does anyone know how they would mount. I see they are listed as an accessory on toyotas website but I'm unclear if they just mount to the composite bed or is there some structure somewhere under the bed that they mount too.

Yes, they are good. IF you have the bolts in the front of the bed, that is where most people put them. I had almost 50 at one time, they were given to me. I'll check and see if I have any left.

If you are from Canada, they are standard equipment.

Not a hoarder and I sure as heck didn't make anything from selling them. I was charging postage to get them out. They went quick too.

I just have the bolts that hold the bed down. The rear d rings look like they are separate from the bed bolts. They are farther apart than the be bolts also. Also, I'm not from Canada. I wish, then I would have gotten mud flaps...

Yes, the D-Rings are located rear corners of the bed, both sides. Very handy for tying down loads. I'm from Canada, all tie downs are standard as well as the mud flaps, both sets of mats, running boards on the LTD, but I wish we got the tonneau standard like the LTD in the States. Saying that, I have a LTD and I like the 6' box..

Just to add to the mud flaps, believe the reason the Cdn version comes with them is because in some provinces it's illegal to drive without them on vehicles with more than 6" of clearance. I'm not in Alberta, but it's illegal there, and they will ticket. Dodge doesn't put them on their trucks and I know of people being ticketted.

Is there a weight limit on the D-rings? Can they be used as a tie-down point for something as heavy as a 400 lb motorcycle spread between 2 D-rings?

I think a 400b motorcycle would be fine. the site mentioned above says:
I wouldn't pick a random place to mount it though. That could be bad, if you do and shit breaks...please post pictures..

If I remember right, it's 400 lbs per. It's in the owner's manual.

You probably also have those hooks at the front of the bed, on the side. You could go 4 point to those.

I have searched about adding D-rings but the solution was to drill the front 2 locations and add there https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/installed-d-rings-in-the-bed-pics.28533/

    Q's
    1) What options are there besides drilling mentiond in above link?
    2) How strong or reliable are the Side bed cleats for furniture moving?
    3) Do recommend this tie down strap to move book shelves?

    Thanks guys!

I did exactly that same thing in the write up and I didn't have to drill :notsure:

I wouldn't use the cleats for anything.

Get some ratchet straps; ones that hold up to 400 pounds each. I've used them MANY times transporting motorcycles in the bed without any issues or breakage.

Why don't you use the cleats?

Only as good as the bed rails..which, IIRC, only support 150# wouldn't do much good with my 400# street bike

I ordered mine with the extra D rings. I'll take a picture as soon as the snow melts out and post it. It is an extra set low in the front on the sides. I got mine for $20 installed, Toyota factory.
