Viper 4806V 2-Way Remote Start & Bypass Module - $239.99 Installed @ Best Buy

Saw this deal over at slickdeals and thought I would share. Anyone looking for an aftermarket remote start might want to check this out. I picked it up for my 2016 hoping it will work. I think the deal is only good for today.

I wonder if there is any other parts they will charge for install

 

I don't have any first hand experience with this so I can't answer that. It does say this on on the product page though...

The 2016's weren't in the system. For the 2015's they require an additional $70 for the installation. That includes a relay, hood tilt switch and more labor?????? His reasoning was that the install cost only covers a basic installation whereas the Tacoma requires additional labor.

 

Oh, well I tried calling my store I will let you know what they say

 

I wouldn't take any vehicle to that shop. The viper system comes with a hood switch, a relay costs roughly $5 and the ad said it includes geek squad installation. It doesn't say "basic installation." It's also meaningless because the wiring in a Tacoma isn't any different than other Toyotas.

 

All in all though, $310 for a 2-way remote start system installed isn't a bad deal at all. The whole Best Buy thing has me worried though. Not sure I want to take my brand new truck there without knowing the quality of work and who will be working on it.

 

That's my point. If they are saying there's extra labor charge because it's a tacoma, they're being shady.
