I don't feel the need for speakers in the rear doors. I like the storage behind the seats.
I don't need to vibrate neighbor's windows with thug bass ridiculousness.

I'm thinking about upgrading the front door speakers and wondering about using the rear door speaker locations to add some subwoofers.

    Can I do it?

    Does it make any sense?

    Recommended subs?

Yes you can mount some 8s sealed in semi custom door panels if you wish. If you have the money to spend you can even get the SD-3 10 inch subs in there. I have been looking for a local access cab to do just what your asking for

That is a mid bass driver not a subwoofer

If your suck on the stock location a dedicated 6.5inch subwoofer will work. There are a few on the market but you may have to mod the metal a tad, trim the back of the panel and deal with tight tolerance issues. Your mounting depth will be the biggest challenge

+1 on not needing rear door speakers upgraded. You could buy the best coaxials made from carbon fiber cones embedded with gold flakes w/ egyptian silk dome tweeters mounted in titanium baskets powered with 200 w each, and you still wouldn't be able to hear them because of how low they are mounted. Even with rotatable tweeters, they play right into the back of the front seats, which just absorbs about 85% of the rear sound coming from that speaker location. Like I said in my post, unless you still cruise around with friends in the rear, all the time, they really aren't needed as part of an upgrade.

how about a single powered sub behind the rear seat? They're pretty cheap, and to me, looks like the shelfs in the double cabs would hold them with no problem..
