This idea was suggested to me over a year ago by.......I can't remember (please come forward, whoever you are).

After seeing the factory tonneau cover on the 2016, and realizing that I'm getting one, it dawned on me that I better make some crossbars for it so I can carry my skis around this winter.

There will be three versions of this product:

    1) for 2nd gen with factory side rail caps
    2) for 2nd gen with KB Voodoo side rail caps
    3) for 3rd gen

One set is being made, and shipped to @Unchained 5150 for testing. As soon as it meets the approval of this most persnickety tester, they will be made available for sale.

Price will be $250 per set.

They will be made from steel, and black texture powder coated.

They will be strong enought for RTT's, bikes, skis, kayaks, spare tires, cargo baskets, or whatever else you want to throw on them.

To quickly remove the crossbar while leaving the bracket still in place, simply unscrew the supplied knobs and lift it up.

I think that's it for now. Did I forget anything?

    Here are pic's!!

    Just a few questions...

    1. To remove just unscrew knobs...What about theft while skis or bikes are on it? Seems simple to take and go.
    2. How high above the bed do the reals sit?
    3. For RTT what is the weight limit on this? Or still in testing?

Looks like a bad ass product!!!

This is a good point. Maybe I'll supply it with security screws instead of knobs up top.

The bottom of the crossbar sits at 10 inches above the top of the side rail cap. This will allow just about any roll-up tonneau cover to work with it.

I try not to state specific load limits because there are way too many user variables that can effect them, but these will be STRONG.

    Thanks!!

One last thought. Top cross bars what size are they? Will they fit a stock Thule or Yakima ski and or bike rack?

At the moment they are 1.88" wide x 0.75" tall.

I'm going to look into some standard crossbar sizes and tweak as necessary. Input is certainly welcomed on that one.

You think about making the cross bar height adjustable? When bikes are on they could be lower. just loosen the rail clamps to slid into slots. More clearance from trees and garages. Just questions since it sounds like it's in the fab/testing faze. I stop chiming in if you want!

The way it's designed, that is totally doable, and it shall be done.

Wished you had mentioned that you had this design being worked on, when I msg'd you a month ago with a very close design to this as a suggestion on a product....

I would have most likely be buying one from you.

It wasn't really even something on planned on doing until Saturday when I drove a 2016 with a factory tonneau cover.

Design started last night, further tweaks being made today.

I'm hoping to get parts issued to the shop on Wednesday, so keep the product suggestions coming in boys.

Looks like my Yakima front Fork Mount will attach to it, and the rear one as well. Might just put my bike up there as the boys have walked into it a few times with it on the mounts sticking out the side of the bed. Wondering if a tire carrier could be made or if an existing one will attach to it? When are you thinking you will be shipping it to me Chad? During the winter months or Spring?

I think an existing tire carrier like Nfab's would definitely mount to it.

It will be shipping to you in about 2 weeks, give or take.
