    Hi Folks,

I'm a new member of Tacoma World and I hope someone can give me some advice or direction on my question.

I have the check engine light on. I plugged it in and the code came up Knock Sensor. Either the sensor/sensors are bad or a rodent chewed through the knock sensor wiring harness. The dealership confirmed this. Also, I do know what's involved in the repair (including pulling the intake manifolds).

My question is; the dealer says it will be 18.5 shop hours plus parts to fix it. Seems that's an insane amount of time and resulting cost.

Additionally; A friend accessed "All Data" for me and it said shop time is 9 hours to replace one and it also comes up that it is 18 hours to replace both. When you tear down the Truck both sensors are close together and accessible but All Data adds the additional 9 hours to take it apart a second time. Is the dealership doubling up on the labor time as well? I've also checked other sites and some folks say it is only a 3 or 4 hour job.

Thank you again for any help!

    Sincerely, Tom Gentile )
