It's clear the Taco needs paddle shifters like the new Ford Raptor. :D

My 2016 has had several problems. The first were resolved after 25-26 days out of commission. I have put 1200 miles on it since getting it back. I have found the transmission not shifting properly. When cruising at 78mph I was at 3500 RPM's, I shifted to manual and it was in fourth gear still at 3500 RPM's,, I bumped to fifth then sixth with no change cruise control still on 78mph and 3500 rpm's. I slapped into regular drive and it still stayed at 78mph and 3500 rpm's. Had to release the cruise and then press accelerate o n the CC again before returned to normal 21-2200 RPM's I have a video but can't upload it here.

I was sure the cruise had to be off for the sport mode to work properly as it is computer controlled.

Mine is doing a lot better.... I originally had similar experience with my transmission, but it's learning and has gotten a lot better and shifting much smoother and in timely manner... I just hit 2K miles and its getting better and better each day.

OP, you do not understand the amount of horsepower needed to keep a tacoma at 78mph. You need a lot of horsepower as 78mph is quite fast for a truck's shape. The only way to get this horsepower is to keep it in a lower gear and run the RPM higher

I went on a little 200mile trip today and noticed an irritation with my cruise control as well. While cruising at 75mph, as soon as I set the cruise it immediately downshifts out of OD (6th) and never goes back. If I turn off CC it will go back into overdrive. Its a difference of about 500rpm. I'd like to be able to use CC on future trips but not if it's gonna effect my gas mileage in a negative way. BTW it was on flat terrain here in Kansas and ETC was not on.

Maybe Cruise Control does not allow 6th gear driving. Has anyone tried it going down hill to see if it will allow 6th gear with Cruise Control on?

This reminds me of people that want to give up their freedoms to the government then complain. You bought an automatic. For God's sake, quit whining. :poking:

Yea. It'll go to 6th w/ cruise control. Mine is starting to spend more time there as I get more miles on it. I'm close to 2500 now.
