I have had my Tacoma for about a month and a half. I have premium & tech which comes with dual climate control. Today I was playing with the dual climate control and found a defect. When I remove sync, it will not allow me to change the temperature on the passenger side, but the driver's side changes fine. At times the passenger side will go a little crazy when trying to change the temperature. For example when I tried to turn the temperature down from 75, it will go up to 76 then keep flickering back and forth between 75 and 76 until settling on one. Did not see this mentioned on the forums yet so I figured I would let everyone know to test their dual climate controls. I will be taking it to the dealer next week.

Besides this minor hiccup I have not had any problems and am in love with my Tacoma.

Do you need to know, or care?
Good to know, thanks for sharing. Will check my system tonight, it's been in Sync since I picked it up last week. Same here, no issues, and I never had any problems with my '13 either.

It would be nice if the title for this thread was something like "Does your dual climate control work properly?"

I haven't had a problem with the passenger control not working, but I have noticed that the knob is harder to turn, as if it is rubbing against something.

If you have duel climate control on the right knob you have push it for sync so when you change the temp with the left / main knob it changes in sync together vs dual mode.

Because that's actually what would be happening with me and the wife if we didn't have it. Dueling over the temperature.

I've noticed this too. It's strange, but I've been playing with it and it has "freed" up now and turns just as easily as the driver's side

This is normal on all vehicles. When your in "sync" it's syncing the passenger side with the drivers side. Basically acting as a single zone control. When your not in "sync" it allows control of both "dual" individually

God, how much I hate this phrase, mindlessly repeated ad nausem. The signature phrase of complacency, mediocrity and low-rent standards. E.g. Roads and bridges in the U.S. are crap and falling apart! First world problems!

Excuse my rant. Anyway, the OP paid for dual-climate control. It should work as advertised.

Just this afternoon I was fussing about something minor on the truck and thinking how fun it would be to start a thread titled "Who can come up with the best 'First World Problem' on the 3rd Gen?". It appears you would not be a fan of such a thread.

"Minor pain in the ass that would seem petty to much of the world's population but bothers me more than it should and I feel somewhat guilty about it" is a cumbersome replacement. Do you have any suggestions?
