Installed Overhead Compass and Temperature Display along with outside temperature sensor and wiring; LED lights reverse backup; LED license plate lights; Added GTA Bluetooth Audio kit to stock radio for iphone audio; Spare tire steel braided air hose extension connection to rear bumper; Installed new headlights along with new bulbs PIAA H4 XTreme and for fog lights PIAA H10 XTreme bulbs. Installed new hood with "hood-scoop". Installed Predator Side Steps. Replaced front chrome grill with customized color matched (Desert Sand Mica) grill with added TOYOTA lettering (also in matched color), installed and secured tailgate anti-theft devices. Also installed a new external TPMS monitor for all 4 tires.
At work today, I noticed a brand new 2016 GMC Canyon truck parked in the parking lot, it looked nice!
Later on I find out that a fellow employee had just purchased it last Saturday. We get to talking and of course we go out to his brand new Canyon and he starts to show and tell about it all.
Tell you what, just from what I saw and all the features that it has, it's style and looks, it sure does give the Tacoma a run for it's money. Not only that but I was telling him that I was so dissapointed with the 2016 Tacomas (looks like the O'Dodge Dakota, no rear disc brakes just to name a couple) that I had contemplated on maybe getting a new Tacoma but decided to wait till maybe 2017 or so but I don't think that Toyota won't be changing the style till around another 7-8 years!
But after seeing and sitting in the Canyon I was really impressed! Rear disc-brakes, TPMS indicators in dash showing actual tire pressure so when the idicator comes on it gives the driver the exact tire that is low on pressure, cool looking-stylish interior, exterior body frame was sharp looking and appealing, cool looking colors, it looks like the Canyon has alot going for it.

In comparision, at this point it looks like the only thing positive that the new 2016 Toyota Tacoma has going for it, is the Toyota name resell value?

Anyone else check out the GMC Canyon? http://www.gmc.com/canyon-small-pickup-truck.html?&seo=goo_|_GMC_Retention_|_GMNA|US|GMC|GOOG|S|BP|A|EX|RTN|CYN|MPU|0|0|2015-Canyon|NA|NA|NA_|_General_|_gmc canyon

I was looking at the Colorado/Canyon just to see what else was out there and I have owned gm vehicles before. Driving the CalYon and driving the Taco yeah toyota won me over again the interior restyling is awesome I'm only 5'7" and I felt cramped in the ColYon I suppose resell value is important to some I was surprised that the Sierra I owned had depreciated so much compared to my Taco that's for sure. Go look go drive in person pictures don't do either truck justice.

The Tacoma? I was the same way when I checked out one at the auto show a few weeks ago. Not as ugly in person (really just the nose) but interior wise seemed a little econo-box in terms of the interior style. Materials were nice, on par with the Colly but a little behind the Canyon with the soft touch dash. I felt more cramped in the Tacoma (6'5 270 here).

Still curious to take a drive in one. If I was solely building a trail/expedition rig I would get the Tacoma, any other the GM twins as it seems as they just do better DD/truck stuff (tow/haul which isn't that part of the reason of owning a truck?). They are more than capable enough in many but the most extreme off road situations (with the lower valence removed of course).

Exactly how I feel about the 2016 Tacoma's front end and have considered a full-size pickup truck as well

Been in both & I fit fine (5'-9" & 150lbs). I like a lot of what the GM twins offer & they sure are winning awards from the auto magazines. I really dig the diesel offering too. Looks wise, I prefer the '16 Tacoma both in & out but that alone is not enough to sell me a vehicle. That said, I can't stand the color of some '16 Tacoma's on the inside...one of the ones I've been in had red on some of the trim on the dash...not for me at all tho I'm happy TM is being a little less conservative in design. Over all prefer the Tacoma appearance.

If forced to buy a midsize right now I think I would choose the Taco mostly because I trust TM reliability and neither have really proven themselves either way...yet.
